No one ever trod the cobbles like Hilda and Stan.
I don't know if this is Canada, or Britain, who will see this episode. Something to look forward to.
Our March meeting seems like years ago, and sadly, we will be repeating April and May in physical distancing so won't be meeting this month either. To you all, have a good summer and be ready, Dr. Bonnie willing, to come together in September for a new year of Corrie conversation and camaraderie.
The drought is lifting; our fix is coming....
How is everyone out there doing? It has been such a long time since our last meeting, and it seems we won't be seeing each other any time soon either. Are you lonely? Do you want to meet up somehow? Maybe we can work something out with one of our usual restaurants to host three or four small groups of ten or so, properly distanced, for an afternoon coffee time. Or maybe someone's yard. What do you think?
The episode last Friday with Geoff taking Yasmeen out to the Rovers in that horrible red dress really turned my stomach. I hope her finally reacting and stabbing him with a broken wine bottle is the turning point. Probably not though, as I can see the explanation being she is now out of her mind with her alcoholism. I hope Sally and Cathy and Eileen are suspicious enough to listen to Alya when she tries to tell them about Geoff.
Somebody send us some letters.
Good advice from the Scottish table...
Still going strong.
Nothing to do with the show but still relevant for all of you loyal Brits.
Yasmeen is looking very rattled. Is she finally beginning to have doubts? Why isn't Alya quizzing Tim? I am really looking forward to seeing the result of the police investigation into Geoff and his background. He just makes my skin crawl.
An alert for all you actual Corrie watchers.
Gary's plotting with Sharon went sideways and now Alie is hot on his trail. Is he nearing the end of his run in Weatherfield? I suspect he won't be killed off because he does make a good villian.
Here is the latest regarding Coronation Street filming schedule. Since we are two weeks behind, I presume we will stop getting episodes for maybe a month yet. Oh the suspense of what will happen with Gary and Maria, Ray and Abbie, Jade and Fizz, Geoff and Yazmeen, plus others.
Be sure to watch all of this.
Happy St Patrick's Day Everyone! Irish Dancing Bears!
Daniel is cracking up, and he is trying to take Bethany with him. He better be careful or he might lose Bertie. Beth is not going to shrug her shoulders and say 'oh well' as he runs off to London.
Horror is all I can say about Geoff's latest move. How could he butcher Charlotte and then revel in Yasmeen's unknowing as she enjoys dinner. Aleya must come to the rescue. He is a lunatic.
The meeting on March 12 was a quiet affair as only twenty managed to gather at the Qualicum Beach Legion. We did make the most of it, and enjoyed the presentation from the Regional District of Nanaimo on recycling. We also got to indulge in very tasty treats all set out on a St. Patrick's Day-themed table. As always, the cheerful leprechaun made his appearance to welcome all the the meeting. Thanks again to everyone who came and who elbow-bumped with a smile and a hearty hello.
The episode last night with Yasmeen locked in the magician's box just made me want to vomit. Now what kind of excuse is Geoff going to come up with? Probably that she was just hysterical and he didn't know what else to do. Will he get her hospitalized? He already has all her money and take now can take over her house, leaving her nothing.
Valentine's Day theme for our meeting last Thursday saw many dressed with red somewhere on their person. The decor echoed that colour scheme (thank you Andrew) and the entertainment from the quartet plus one, tuned by Peter Cole, sang lovely love songs. Our intrepid leader, Betty, related some slightly embarrassing anecdotes from her youth when she was on her knees or otherwise discommoded. Much laughter ensued. The food was good, especially the heart cookies, and Margaret kept the tea and coffee hot. What more could we ask. This Thursday those who lunch will descend on The Final Approach for lunch and a test flight of the newly renovated dining room. Please make sure Joan knows you are going so she can keep a chair for you.
The Original 20. It's Coronation Street's 10,000th Episode on Friday! Who's going to be watching along with us?
More secrets revealed.
Congratulations!
So many tears shed over Sinead's story.
We feel you Jennie, it's that Scottish skin. #coronationstreet https://stv.click/coronation-street-fb
Over thirty people joined together to welcome 2020 at the Club meeting last week. The new decade might have been overshadowed by the booksale where many of us picked up new reading material. Lots of buzz as folks caught up on each others holiday doings. We were all so happy to have our jokester back to entertain with some corkers, groaners, and questionable in mixed company humour. Andrew decorated with his usual flair and Ian sprang to help when it was time for draws. Thanks to them both, and to the bringers of snacks - always appreciated.
Mayhem on Coronation Street; it never ends. Robert is blindsided by Michelle selling the Bistro, and now he wonders if she has done something to Vicki. Geoff is making all our skins crawl with the way he is treating Jasmine, and she looks more cowed all the time. Tim has confessed to being married and Sally, of course, has jumped to the conclusion that she means nothing now. The quads are home and making life a mess already, but just wait until their crying keeps the whol...e street up at night. Rita is more and more dismayed at her seeming lack of friends and may become suicidal. Gary is lurking in the background just waiting for the writers to get back to his dastardliness. Daniel may be coming out of his funk but still looks bad. Jade is scheming something and now that we know she is John Stape's daughter, it comes clear that she has designs on Hope. And on and on and on and on...... See more
Busy, busy, busy. That is my only excuse for not getting one or two photos on here of the club's Christmas Lunch at Bailey's in Qualicum Beach. As last year, the food was just great, the table setting was festive, and the service left nothing to be desired. Twenty-one members and guests were able to come together to enjoy every morsel, and to wish each other and everyone else a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Well, the last meeting of 2019 was a delight. Georgina Goodinson led us through the afternoon of eating, prize-winning, and gift-exchanging. She topped off the day by telling the group of her impending re-location to England after living in Canada for forty-one years. It will be a big adjustment for her and her husband, but they are both excited. Weeding through belongings and packing up are consuming their lives, and not giving them any time for second thoughts. We all wish them well in their new life challenge.
Memories from the distant past...
We had a great bake sale at our November meeting, and everything flew off the shelf. There are many great bakers, and jam makers, in this group. I know as I have sampled many many wares. We were missing some members as they deal with issues, and our hope is that those issues become minor and they are back with us for the December potluck meeting.
Four babies; now the fun begins. Gemma and Chesney have their work, and their lives, cut out for them. Will they have Bernie there to 'help' them with everything? How will they all fit in that two up two down little house? This population increase augers well for many many future story twists and turns in the on-going saga of Coronation Street. May the show carry on and prosper far into the future. We addicts need our fix.
Tears flowed nonstop through the whole goodbye episode where we saw Sinead slowly expire while Daniel read a story to little Bertie. So bittersweet. Now on with the fallout of The Kiss, and as of yesterday, The Hug. Poor Bethany can't do right for stepping wrong.
Now what is going to happen with David. I think he is in jail for the duration. The actress playing Shona is pregnant so I think there is no wedding and Shona leaves for the nebulous ether outside Weatherfield, leaving Max with Marion. Lily stays with Sara. Maybe Gail gets tired of Thailand and makes a return to stir things up. Possibilities, possibilities.
This week has been intense. Daniel is a mess, and this kiss shared with Bethany is just the icing on the cake. Sinead is devastated. Will she pass away before they get back together? This is a soap so who knows. Kleenex time is here.
Spoiler alert. Sinead is dying. Oh, you knew that already. It looks like she has only days left. How will Daniel cope? He has a family that will rally round so things might not be too bad. Also, both his and Sinead's family seem to get along so there shouldn't be any fights over custody. We don't know much about Sinead's mom, though, so anything can happen. This is a soap opera after all.
