Fresh off the easel, this painting was inspired by the garage entrance to Williams Automotive at the corner of Quadra and Finlayson. . I think my fascination with everything old began the first time I explored my Oma and Opa's garage as a kid. I was captivated by turn of the century Farmer's Almanacs, antique farm tools, and a old wood burning range. Sun rays shining through the dirty windows only added to the magical feel of the place. It's little wonder I ended up with two degrees in history. . Part of why I find these scenes so compelling is the time it takes to create them. The shop may have only taken a year or so to build, but its character had to be earned through decades of hard work. .
