Thanks to all of you who have Liked Cosm Garden Services so far. During the winter, your best buy for plants are definitely orchids. They seem like they are pricey but they actually last for several months. Then, when the flowers are finished, you can cut back the long stem where the buds were. Cut back the stem by less than 2 inches from where the last flower was located. Do not cut the stem off entirely unless it turns brown.... They will bloom again if you keep them in a bright sunlit spot, but out of direct sunlight. That can mean slightly away from a window, or behind a sheer curtain in a north- or east-facing window. Because the flowers have died, does not mean its dead. Keep up with the watering, just like with any other plant. Orchids like about three ice cubes worth of water, (one ice cube for smaller orchids) once a week. http://bestanimations.com//orchid-flower-animated-gif-8.gif

I am currently developing ideas and capacity for development of a resort called Shire. The client is in Elgin County, northwest of Kingston and south of Ottawa. The plan so far includes a 40-acre flower meadow with plush camping facilities and a festival stage. The meadow will be surrounded by extensive flower gardens and sculpture gardens dedicated to the theme of conscious evolution, together with market gardens and food forest styles of agriculture. As with most areas on... the Canadian Shield the soil is about 3 inches deep. This means we'll be using raised beds, with new soil creation. Here are pictures of the meadow. It is truly magical, and took my breath away when I saw it for the first time.

Went for a walk in the neighbourhood yesterday evening in mid June. I was excited to come across an orange peony shrub in full bloom. Its a variety that blows your socks off. There were smaller pink peony flowers nearby which just added to all the glory. With the reduced light levels of evening, the darker foliage sank into the background. Earlier I found a pink dogwood in full bloom. Marvelously abundant. Last week I found a smoke bush with the sunlight behind it. Yum!
