I’ve been planning a new season of Joy of Jazz Concerts on the Hood 29 Stage and it’s going to be a doozy! This is my mini-invitational concert series which fea...tures some incredible instrumentalists and vocalists I am fortunate to know and occasionally work with. This year we’ve decided to present these concerts on 4 Sunday evenings: October 27, December 15, February 23 and April 26. Announcements will be made soon regarding WHO will be featured on each of these dates and the website will be updated soon as well to reflect the 2019/2020 season by web-meister Paul Norton. http://www.joyofjazzconcerts.com/ These concerts take place on the stage of Hood 29 (formerly The Cottage Bistro) the perfect place for the audience to experience the artistry and nuance of a wide range of musical styles under the jazz umbrella. We respectfully request that concert attendees refrain from conversation during these concerts. Hood 29 is located at 4468 Main Street in Vancouver. Admission for each of these concerts is $15.00 cash at the door. Concerts start at 7:30 PM - Please arrive by 7:15 PM.

The intelligent ...ears featured in this month's awesome band belong to Ron Thompson (guitar), Buff Allen (drums) and Paul Blaney (bass). You'll want to arrive early for vocalist sign up. I've been asked to be a guest for a show taking place in December curated by my friend guitarist/vocalist Dave Lidstone and this morning we had our first "visit..." of the songs all composed by the dearly missed Nancy Thorwardson. By no means am I a Western Swing aficionado but Nancy surely was! October 20th's headliner is Bill Hills, singer, songwriter and harmonica player who has shared the stage with touring blues giants John Hammond, Otis Rush, Matt... Murphy, Son Seals, Pinetop Perkins, and many others, and has recorded two award winning CDs. Bill's been entertaining music lovers since he was knee high to a harmonica. Come on out and enjoy a master in action. Bill's on at 3:00-3:30 and at 5:30-6:00, accompanied by James Badger (drums), Bruce Morrison (electric bass) and Andrew Hart (electric guitar). When Bill is on break the stage will feature ad hoc ensembles of visiting musicians of all ages and skill levels who will perform 15 minute sets. If you are a visiting musician who wants to play, advise this week's jam master (Andrew Hart) upon your arrival. It's "first in, first up". The music ends at 7:00.
