Thank you to Ottawa Fire Services and other emergency services partners for their quick response to a fire overnight on Hazeldean Road. Ottawa Fire received a 911 call 2:01am reporting smoke visible at a commercial building. Firefighters searched the building to confirm there were no occupants in the building and ventilated the smoke from the structure before declaring the fire under control at 2:32am. The fire damage was contained to the restaurant, with smoke damage to surrounding businesses. An Ottawa Fire Services Investigator is en route to confirm the cause of the fire.

**COVID-19 vaccine distribution update** This has been a truly historic week for Ottawa, with health care workers who work in some of Ottawa’s long-term care homes becoming the first individuals in the city to receive the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at TOH. There will be a phased and scheduled vaccination campaign to make COVID-19 vaccine available to everyone in Ottawa, however it will take many months before large segments of the population are vaccinated. We are co...nfident that residents of Ottawa will keep doing their best to protect their friends, family and coworkers while the vaccinations continue. The City of Ottawa has received applications for the last phase of Mattamy’s Fairwinds subdivision. Mattamy is proposing a mix of singles and townhouses on the temporary stormwater management pond site on Brigatine, which will be decommissioned soon. The current zoning allows both singles and townhouses, and the new rezoning would refine certain setbacks, building heights, and lot coverage. The proposal includes an extension of Brigatine Avenue, with 15 lots for detached dwe...llings and blocks for 32 townhouse units. (The parcel was part of a plan of subdivision that received draft approval in 2009, but that approval has now lapsed so a new subdivision application is required.)
