Nicole LeBlanc Trenton Town Council 12.02.2021

You liked the format last time, to let’s catch up: - We had a presentation from John Charlton, project manager for the park revitalization, at the request of council given some concerns from council themselves, and residents. Here’s a few highlights: the tender for phase 4 closes Friday, and this portion includes things like: resurfaced basketball court, removal of the former mini putt which will become a wooded seating area, the new playground, replacement bridges (wide enou...gh for the fire dept’s 4x4!), the dog park, and canteen retrofit (including washrooms up to code). I’d like to highlight as well the use of local contractors and outfits for bids - this project is a great economic driver for our community! We look forward to keeping the lines of communication open as the project moves forward. - the CAO reported senior staff will soon be gathering for capital planning and budget planning - We received notice of the new executive for the fire department - congratulations and thank you flr your leadership! - Parks and recs outlined recent grants, and council also thanked them, public works and Scotia Park for their offering of the lit, plowed and sanded walking track. -Mayor Hussher noted the work of the former economic development committee, and will be relaying that information to the new committee once we’re up and running. He noted the opportunity to explore options for the former lighthouse on the right of the Trenton Connector as you enter town. It’s currently in very rough shape, and a potential opportunity to explore as a it’s a point of welcome to our town. - Council spoke regarding policy OP-010 re: culverts and we wished to seek further information. - the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame and a council member will be joining that board. - We welcomed comments from those in attendance, thank you to Robin and Andrew flr your contributions. Finally, we wished a very happy birthday to Councillor Cotter! Hope you enjoyed your post-meeting cake! This was the first meeting at 6pm, and have to say, it was nice to start a little early! Important dates: February 16th - Special Meeting of Council February 23rd - Committee of the Whole

Hi all! Update on the track for tonight: With all the snow over the last 24 hours, the track is not plowed for tonight’s walk. We will turn the lights on Thursday to make up for it. Please share with anyone who has been walking the track so they are aware of the change.

Got our Super Bowl and storm snacks from Sam's Pizza - Trenton, of course! Hope everyone stays safe! PS my best storm tip is to pre-brew a coffee incase the power goes out (I just store in a mason jar, so I can have some caffeine!)
