Good morning members, REMINDER: Tenants please check your furnace exhaust pipes (located on the back or side of your home). It’s common for ice to build up in these with the low temperatures. If you notice any ice build up, all you need to do is take something like a hammer & a flat blade screwdriver, butter knife, etc, and gently tap around the end of the vent pipe to loosen the ice, and either pry or knock it out. It usually comes out in one piece but you may need to brea...k it up a bit at first. Heating-System Tips: - Increase your home’s temperature by a couple degrees above your normal setting now, and then leave your thermostat alone. Do not turn it back down at night. In this extreme cold, your heating system will struggle to return to where you originally had it set. - Replace your filter. Ideally in the winter months, especially during these ultra-cold spells, you should change the filter monthly! - Check all registers/air vents of any obstructions or blockages. Keep furniture away to allow best airflow. - Help to heat your home with some cooking or bakingor even just boiling water. It gives extra humidity and warm temperatures to your indoor air. It should be noted that heating your home with your oven and stove is not ideal and can be extremely dangerous. - Check on neighbors or anyone elderly in this freezing weather to make sure they are safe and warm. - Department of Housing.
