CounsellingBC was started in 1999. I recall being in a training session with a number of counsellors and psychologist at that time. The instructor said Can you imagine anyone actually using the Internet to find a therapist? The room erupted in laughter. CounsellingBC he’s one of the original counselling directories and it has helped so many thousands of individuals get the help they need. We are eternally proud of that!
Here is a wonderful talk about empathy and what it means for companies, leaders and employees. It is of course about how we choose to live our lives.
Remember this ...
This site has been in place for some time now. Filled with important resources during a very challenging time!
Wonderful research. Hope can change how you function in your life.
This has been an ongoing issue. It's time to sort this out. In the mean time CounsellingBC has worked hard to make sure that the professionals on the site have designations that are consistently well respected.
Check out CounsellingBC.com for professionals in BC who can be of help during this challenging time.
Pay good attention to your friends and family. They may need your support even if they don’t ask for it. On the other hand they may need some time to themselves. Take the time to check in with them.
Therapeutic actions can take so many forms. Music and movement can unlock feelings that words sometimes cannot.
Certainly a worthwhile course and great that it's offered in an online version at this time.

Fascinating research: These findings build on previous research indicating that depression, anxiety and irritability can affect how a person perceives other peoples faces. It has also been shown that adults who were exposed to violence, neglect or physical abuse in childhood are more likely to see hostility where there is none. This can create a self-reinforcing cycle.
Yes indeed it can. Reading the news can be even worse. What can you do about it? https://www.forbes.com//this-dangerous-morning-habit-may/

Anti-Racism Resources
We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. The opposite of love is not hate, its indifference. Elie Wiesel
Please note! The format of this webinar (this Friday) is mostly geared to counselling professionals. We are very pleased to sponsor this workshop for counsellors, psychologists, and social workers. We recognize how important at this time to learn what it means and find out how to become anti-racist. Dr. Jabome Gilpin-Jackson, the presenter, is an amazing woman introduced to me indirectly by Carl Meadows ... https://mailchi.mp/counsellingbc/antiracism Note: A streaming version will be available for 72 hours after the event. While written for an American audience, some time ago, much of it can (and should) apply here:

Steps to find a counsellor on the site that engages is remote counselling.
More and more counsellors, social workers and psychologists are beginning to move their practices online. We are so proud of their effort to take their services online and change the way they work during this time!

CounsellingBC has a fairly large number of online counsellors. If youre looking for one you can just scroll through this list.
This is such a powerful and touching and important TED talk about grief. We hope that you will feel the same way. The main point is that you dont have to leave it all behind. The people you lose are with you and influence your whole life going forward.
These are some of the counsellors on CounsellingBC who appreciate the site because it clients to them. We are so pleased that they agreed to appear in this video.
One of the most brilliant experts in addiction ... * Addiction is a response to emotional pain.
Not counselling related but something lovely nonetheless. wonderful when these sorts of things happen. #chosenfamily #friendships #connections
This is excellent and well worth sharing. CounsellingBCs counsellors all have respected professional designations that have strong codes of ethics. It is still always worth deciding who is a good fit for you if you are seeking counselling services. #counsellors #counsellorsBC #counsellingBC #regulation #counsellorregulation #RCC #CCC #RPsych
This is meant for professional counsellors but we thought we would share it here as well. NICABM offers some amazing programs!!
Aside from the fact that lying has an absolute toxic affect on relationships here is what it does to the brain. Moral of the story. Learn to consistently tell the truth (or certainly avoid lying)despite the fact that there may be some consequences for it.
Worth reading if you have assisted newcomers (or in the process of doing so). There are many rewards and many challenges.
While this is not a recent article there are some really good tips that are worth considering.
Interesting article on vacation anxiety. This can be helpful for some who are affected by significant changes in routine.
As a social media page for a counselling directory Its a bit of a leap posting this here, but the reality of it is that transformation can come from all kinds of sources. Some people, who least expect it, are helped to feel good about themselves by people who they least expect would do so. Take a peek at this.
A little bit late but here is a link for a great seminar for counsellors (and replays today)
This is not related specifically to counselling but its a great little talk about goal setting and accomplishment. What can you set your mind to do in 30 days? Whatever you do, ever day for 30 days, will result in a sense of accomplishment.
This very short speech at the Oscars four years ago truly reminds us that we are just fine as we are. We can be weird and that weirdness can bring great strength when ultimately accepted.

Let the past be the fuel for your future and let it not be your punching bag hanging around with its couldas and shouldas. Use it to ignite self love and let the guilt and shame of anything you did or didnt do, burn away while you blaze a present of self hope and a future of joy. Author unknown
Really worthwhile TED talk from a few years ago. How do you think that your belief about stress affects your health?
This is beautiful. Many do not connect this beautifully even after years of knowing each other.
The ongoing challenge of maintaining balance when being bombarded by horrible news. Great article. The way that news is presented and the way that we access news has changed significantly over the last 15 to 20 years, says Graham Davey, a professor emeritus of psychology at Sussex University in the UK and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Experimental Psychopathology. These changes have often been detrimental to general mental health.
How to study and possibly change what you say to yourself.
Lady Gaga on cultivating kindness.
Excellent article (from a few months ago) about Depression and trends. Worth the read.
When a religious man gets that its about love and respect for all humankind
