CounsellingBC was started in 1999. I recall being in a training session with a number of counsellors and psychologist at that time. The instructor said Can you imagine anyone actually using the Internet to find a therapist? The room erupted in laughter. CounsellingBC he’s one of the original counselling directories and it has helped so many thousands of individuals get the help they need. We are eternally proud of that!

This has been an ongoing issue. It's time to sort this out. In the mean time CounsellingBC has worked hard to make sure that the professionals on the site have designations that are consistently well respected.

Fascinating research: These findings build on previous research indicating that depression, anxiety and irritability can affect how a person perceives other peoples faces. It has also been shown that adults who were exposed to violence, neglect or physical abuse in childhood are more likely to see hostility where there is none. This can create a self-reinforcing cycle.

We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. The opposite of love is not hate, its indifference. Elie Wiesel

Please note! The format of this webinar (this Friday) is mostly geared to counselling professionals. We are very pleased to sponsor this workshop for counsellors, psychologists, and social workers. We recognize how important at this time to learn what it means and find out how to become anti-racist. Dr. Jabome Gilpin-Jackson, the presenter, is an amazing woman introduced to me indirectly by Carl Meadows ... https://mailchi.mp/counsellingbc/antiracism Note: A streaming version will be available for 72 hours after the event. Aside from the fact that lying has an absolute toxic affect on relationships here is what it does to the brain. Moral of the story. Learn to consistently tell the truth (or certainly avoid lying)despite the fact that there may be some consequences for it.

As a social media page for a counselling directory Its a bit of a leap posting this here, but the reality of it is that transformation can come from all kinds of sources. Let the past be the fuel for your future and let it not be your punching bag hanging around with its couldas and shouldas. Use it to ignite self love and let the guilt and shame of anything you did or didnt do, burn away while you blaze a present of self hope and a future of joy. Author unknown

The ongoing challenge of maintaining balance when being bombarded by horrible news. Great article. The way that news is presented and the way that we access news has changed significantly over the last 15 to 20 years, says Graham Davey, a professor emeritus of psychology at Sussex University in the UK and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Experimental Psychopathology. These changes have often been detrimental to general mental health.
