Covid 19 update May 26-20 We hope everyone is staying safe & healthy. We continue to be open for business and will be restarting our grooming in the next couple weeks. If your name is already on our grooming list we will be contacting you ASAP to set up an appointment. If not, or you are unsure, please call us at 604-460-1428. We are back to our regular business hours of Monday - Friday 9-6pm & Saturday 9-3pm, however, we are still unable to allow clients entry into the... building for the time being as per the CVMA guidelines. We will meet you at the door, take your pet in for their appointment and return them to you. Update regarding COVID 19 and domestic pets. Recently 2 cats in New York as well as a pug in North Carolina have tested positive for COVID-19. At this time it appears the pets were either asymptomatic, or had mild upper respiratory symptoms and are expected to make a full recovery. Does this change anything? No. The same messaging applies:... There’s a chance for human-pet transmission of this virus. The animal health implications are probably limited. The human health implications are completely unknown at this point (but are probably quite low in the grand scheme of things). Socially distance your pets, just like you and the rest of your family. Keep them inside with you, and when outside, keep them under control so they don’t interact with anyone else (or anyone else’s pets). If you’re infected, limit contact with people and animals If you’re infected, keep your pet in the house with you. We are continuing to watch the situation closely and encourage you to look at reliable sources for further information. Mainly the CVMA, AVMA, and the CDC. See below for a good article in regards to the pug in North Carolina.

As more information comes in regarding COVID 19 and domestic animals, we encourage you to visit the following site for the most accurate and up to date information. Please note: The current spread of COVID-19 is a result of human to human transmission. To date, there is no evidence that companion animals have spread the disease. Therefore, there is no justification in taking measures against companion animals which may compromise their welfare. https://www.oie.int//questions-and-answers-on-2019novel-c/

March 26 update: We appreciate your continued support and understanding during these times. We are implementing a few stricter policies in line with the advice of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association. These measures are to ensure we can continue to care for your pets through this public health emergency. 1. We continue to ask someone is unwell, have had a recent travel history (14 days) or have been in close contact with someone who is sick, please refrain... from coming to the clinic. As many of you know we are a small practice with limited staff, this is also in your best interest as we do interact with the public. Staff members are to wear PPE when dealing with the public and advised to stay home if they are unwell. 2. We will no longer be booking any elective or non urgent appointments. This does not include any appointments which are time sensitive (ie booster vaccines for puppies or kittens, vaccines in cases where the animals risk cannot be minimized), or matters that can develop into further health problems if not addressed (ie anal glands, bad ear infections etc). Please call us if you are unsure whether or not your pet should be seen. Management of chronic health issues may be handled over the phone depending on the individual case and provided we have an established patient doctor relationship. 3. Our doors will remain locked. For appointments please inform us you are here (either by phone or waving to us in reception) we will pick up your pets from outside and take a history, the veterinarian will then perform an exam and we will communicate to you the treatment plan prior to proceeding and bring your pet out to you. For all food and medication pickups we are accepting credit cards over the phone or e-transfers (please call to find out more) 4. We will be reducing our hours and will keep you up to date with any future changes. At this time our hours will be as follows: Monday Friday 9 am 5 pm Saturdays (pending) 9 - 3pm. As of this morning BC government has followed precedent of other provinces and has declared veterinary care as an essential service and we do not anticipate any closures. As mentioned in a previous post our suppliers have adequate stock of pet foods and medications, however due to increased demand there may be a short delay in receiving items. Please allow for an extra couple days for special orders. Please remember that at this time there is still NO evidence pets can become infected or transmit COVID 19 . Please see some FAQ here: http://www.bccdc.ca//diseases/covid-19/about-covid-19/pets

Covid 19 update: To ensure that we will be able to offer veterinary services without disruption, we are implementing new precautionary measures. Aside from grooming which has been postponed until further notice, we are not currently limiting the type of veterinary appointments. We do ask that you consider delaying non-urgent appointments wherever possible. ... For all appointments please wait outside or in your vehicle when you get to the clinic, if there is no one at reception please call us at 604-460-1428. We will come to you and pick up your pet. While you wait outside the establishment, the veterinarian (or staff) can communicate with you by phone and will be responding to any concerns you might have. We will examine your pet and a treatment plan will be communicated to you, if treatment is necessary. We will not proceed with any testing and treatments or procedures without your pre-approval. You may pay for the services over the phone and the pet will be brought back to you. If you are picking up supplies or medication, you can pay over the phone and we will bring those items to you outside. Please note that although our suppliers have adequate stock of medications, food, and other pet supplies, we have been experiencing minor delays with receiving items. Allow for an extra couple days for special orders. We at Country Meadows, appreciate your understanding in these uncertain times. To our clients : We at Country Meadows Pet Hospital continue to closely monitor the coronavirus and its impact across the globe with a focus on the health and safety or our employees, clients, and their family pets. Please be advised that we are remaining open for business as usual at this time, however, as things have been changing at a rapid pace we are preparing for ways in which we can still be available for your furry family members in case things change. Your pet’s he...alth and wellness are important to us ! As our clinic frequently sees many members of the community, including the elderly and vulnerable, and although we do our best to keep the clinic sanitized and clean, the risk of spreading this virus still exists. Therefore, we ask that if you are feeling unwell and your pets appointment is not an emergency or that it can be postponed (ie- vaccinations, spay, neuters) we strongly advise that these be rescheduled to a later date. If your pet does need to be seen and you are unwell, please have a friend or family member bring the pet in. If you are unsure if the condition is something that can wait, please do give us a call. For medication refills, food order, health questions please call us at 604-460-1428 For emergency and afterhours we continue to refer to the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Fraser Valley at 604-514-1711 Please also note that at this time there is no evidence that covid-19 can infect cats or dogs at this time Please see here for further information from on Covid 19 and pets: https://www.avma.org/res/animal-health-and-welfare/covid-19
