Countryside Counselling 29.12.2020

Welcome to Fall! In most cases children are returning to school. The weather is changing along with trees changing colours, plants dying back and the light of day is becoming shorter. It even seems that the change from summer to autumn is abruptly upon us. For some people it feels like an ending, for others a new beginning. How are you going to experience stepping into the change in seasons? Is there an expectation that things will be somehow gloomy or does it bring up thoughts of cocooning? Perhaps it allows for a change of creative activities within your family your life? It’s up to each of us to create our own reality. Is it good or is it bad? Becoming aware of HOW you view change in your life might just allow for a new and exciting reality! Happy Fall Everyone!

It's now been almost 3 months since CoVid made an impact on our lives. How well are we doing being present to what is in front of us rather than projecting into the future? Find that quiet place inside yourself and breathe...

Experiencing isolation, a disconnect from our ‘regular lives’ can become tedious, lonely, frustrating, and more. It’s important to keep mentally and emotionally aware What are we telling ourselves day after day when we hear more fearful news? - What do we feel when we can’t connect in person, when we fear going outside, when each day seems the same? When we notice that we cling to the negative, it is definitely time to counteract those thoughts and feelings with positiv...e input. Make a list of positive things things that you are grateful for. Find at least one act of kindness that you can bestow on another each day: phone call, write a note / card, email or text someone you seldom connect with.often when we reach out in kindness, we feel the love ourselves. One day this pandemic will not be part of our lives. Who are we going to be as we journey through it? See more

The current ‘pandemic’ has caused a lot of anxiety and fear among people everywhere. This is a massive transition into the unknown not knowing when it will come to an end and who it will effect in a negative way. Isolation is one of the by-products of this event. If possible try to find activities that bring some joy to you. Perhaps listen to some music that you love, look through your photos to help remind you of happy times, call a friend or visit them online. Remember that you once enjoyed a hobby but never found the time for it as life got busieryou now have the time! It is very important to bring as much positivity into your daily life and remember we are all in this together!

Imagine the changes that occur in a woman’s lifetime! Transitioning through these changes depends on our perspective. Sometimes we view transitions from our family’s perspective, or from something we made up about it. Imagine if we believed that a transition through a life altering change, could be an adventure or a challenge,... rather than something that will bring us down! I can’t say I’ve always done transitions well, but it’s helpful to be reminded that we might just be okay as we move through to the other side! See more

True in life and loss. How do you grow?

I like what David Kessler, author and educator on Grieving stated - that CHANGE IS A SHIFT IN THE EXTERNAL SITUATION, WHEREAS, TRANSITION IS OUR RESPONSE TO THE CHANGE. A powerful perspective as we know that change is inevitable but our response to it is our choice, our responsibility.
