Countryside Reformed Church 03.10.2020

Here is the final Vision 2020 report that was to be presented at last month's (cancelled) Synod. It will be presented and voted on at Synod 2021, Lord willing. This gives a unique opportunity for individuals and churches to read it over & discuss over a 12 month period. I would encourage you to do just that: read it over (I've done so twice already) and discuss it with your family. Please, also, give your feedback to the Countryside RCA Council so that they can give an accura...te representation of Countryside at a future Classis meeting. Sunday Meditation June 14, 2020 In anticipation of being able to be together next week Sunday and trusting that this is within the Lord’s Will, I hope that this will be the last meditation I will post on the Countryside Facebook page. This week, with an eye to next, I would like to write on the importance of Fathers. Next week is Father’s Day in Canada and in the US. If you have a godly father in your life, take the upcoming week to reflect and appreciate what Dad means i...Continue reading

Mid-Week Posting June 10, 2020 Some good news and some bad new and some great news this week. First the good news. The Ontario government is allowing churches to reopen their doors this Sunday. Provisions are that it is to be at 30% capacity of the sanctuary and social distancing measures are in place. This is a fair provision considering we need to remain safe, healthy, and conscious of other people’s health. We look forward to a day when 100% capacity will be allowed wi...Continue reading

Sunday Meditation June 7, 2020 I feel a pressure to write to you today about the same thing that the majority of pastors are writing and preaching about today: the sin of racism. To be sure, racism is a sin. It is a sinful activity. Racism denies that someone deserves dignity and respect. As a Christian, it also denies that the other person is created in the image of God. As Christians, we must speak out against this sin when we come to it face-to-face. Racism confesse...Continue reading

Sunday Meditation May 31, 2020 Today is a two-topic meditation. I believe this is unavoidable on a Sunday such as today. The two-topics are Bad News and Good News. First the bad news. Some would say you would have to be living under a rock to know the events that have taken place this past week in the States. First it was the death of George Floyd while in custody of police. The way he was treated, taken down, and subsequently held down is demeaning to human life r...Continue reading

Sunday Meditation May 24, 2020 It is said by psychologists that it takes roughly 3 weeks to create a habit. To make a habit habitual, experts say that it will take about 66 days of repeated behaviour. In the last 2-3 months you and I have had more than enough time to create new habits. I’m sure that most of the people reading this has formed some sort of habit that they did not have before. But there is one habit that none of us have been able to enjoy since the 2nd Sund...Continue reading

Sunday Meditation May 17, 2020 Our Help In many church services on Sundays, the minister will begin the service by asking the congregation this question, Congregation, where is your help? In unison, they answer with confidence from Psalm 124:8, Our help is in the name of the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth.... Everyone needs to look for help at some point simply because one person can not do it all. Not everyone is gifted in all areas of life. I wonder if God made it this way to encourage social interaction between individuals? I needed help these last 12-18 months in renovating our bathroom. I can do some things, but there are those things when it is important to call in an expert. When the various experts were here working, I assisted in following their directions or staying out of their way. We need help- nothing wrong with that. Other times we are a help to others. You yourself have gifts and abilities that others do not. You may be called on to help them in their time of need. Perhaps God DID make this inability to do all things so that we would not be alone. In Psalm 124, the people of Israel testify that if they need the LORD. Without the LORD they would be lost. In the same way, without Jesus in our lives, we would be lost. We would be trampled spiritually; swept away and burned by atheistic and anti-Christian worldviews. In short, we need an anchor, we need a foundation, we need hold on to what is True and Sure. We need a Help. But not just any help. We need to be rescued from our sin so that we can be made right with God and have a relationship with Him. If we turn on our televisions, radio, or look at our Facebook feed, we don’t need to go far before we see who many are placing their faith during this lockdown. Clearly it is in government officials. Regardless of what medical science is saying, if the government says we can or can not do something or go somewhere- that is where they place their help. Everyone, regardless of their help, go in the direction their help leads. Are mayors, premiers, governors, prime ministers and presidents leading us in the right direction? That is debatable either way. BUT, what is NOT debatable is that if your Help is in the LORD, that direction will ALWAYS be right. What a comfort! No wonder the Israelites, said that if it was not for the LORD they would be swept away by their enemy. So today, when you feel overwhelmed with life, with COVID19, with the mixed messages from government officials, declare with Psalm 124:8 that your help is in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, who is the maker of heaven and earth and is salvation for your soul. This is the firmest foundation you could ever stand on. This is the firmest anchor that you could ever be attached to. Peter Beimers

(For) Sunday May 3, 2020 Sunday Meditation Can we Trust Scripture? During this whole lock-down time that we find ourselves in, my wife and I have been watching some more Netflix at night. One genre of shows we have watched, as I am sure many have, are documentaries. We have also watched all 3 seasons of Stranger Things after much prompting from our children. What do watching Stranger Things and a handful of documentaries have in common? Our kids have that answer in th...Continue reading
