Our Valued Patients, I hope you and your families have all been healthy, safe, and keeping well. There has been a significant amount of information disseminated since the Global Coronovirus outbreak and subsequent closure of dental offices throughout Canada. We want you to know that we place the utmost importance on the health of our patients and employees and with that, it is incumbent that we provide you with accurate information on the steps inherent in the re-opening of ...our Dental Offices. The BC Health Attorney and The College of Dental Surgeons, recently announced of the easing of restrictions and the policy recommendations for the re-opening of Dental Offices in B.C during Phase 2 of Covid -19. We are so thankful for the leadership we have received from Dr. Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix along with our Dental Associations. I should note that Infection Control has ALWAYS been our top priority in patient care and the delivery of Dentistry. Our sterilization protocols have always been extensive, across the board. We want your experience to remain comfortable and relaxed while we continue to do our job keeping you safe and providing exceptional care. Please be aware that with enhanced protocol, we have implemented the following changes/precautions: Enhanced telephone screening Employee screening for COVID-19 symptoms Arrival communications/protocol - You will call the office when you arrive and we will invite you into the office and into your prepared treatment room. Every patient will be pre-screened for COVID-19 symptoms in advance, along with screening upon day-of appointment arrival We have expanded disinfection and sanitization protocols throughout the office including reception areas, bathrooms, and of course, treatment rooms to uphold and go above CDSBC Standards and Guidelines. I want to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we will be asking you several questions regarding your current health while following all social distancing and sanitation requirements. Once again, our priority is to protect your health. In closing, we have sincerely missed all of our patients and are very excited to see you soon! Sincerely, Your Courtenay Dental Health Team Treating everyone like family

We want to share with you the correct way to place your mask on your face and remove! You are welcome to share this post with your friends or family members. It is so important to:... 1. Wash your hand correctly 2. Place mask on Face 3. Once the mask is placed on face ( over the nose and below the chin areas) pinch the nose wire tightly over the bridge of your nose 4. When removing mask it is most important to wash your hands correctly and then pinch the elastic from one side behind the ear and remove. Store your personal mask in an breathable space. Thank you to all of our residents on our island for taking care of each other

We are so pleased to announce that we have reopened our office in Phase 2 of provincial reopening to serve you and your dental needs. We know that so many of you have been forced to wait for your required treatment. We want to assure you that we have followed all recommendations of the Provincial Health Officer and we are following all guidelines set forth by the BC Centre for Disease Control, WorkSafe BC and the College of Dental Surgeon’s of BC. ... We are very fortunate as we were able to procure all PPE required. Physical distancing guidelines and the need to triage and treat acute and urgent care first may affect pre-scheduled patients appointments, we will continue to update patients individually. We are in the office to serve you. Our team members will be checking emails and answering all phone calls. Our response times may be slower than usual as we are focused on addressing patients in pain and immediate scheduling requirements. We will always get back to you if you need to leave a message. Thank you for your understanding as we all adapt to the new normal. Sincerely, Your Courtenay Dental Team 1 (250) 338-5011

Hello to all of our patients, We want to let you know that we are all healthy and safe at home with our families. Please do not be concerned about the Pacific Dental Conference. We are all healthy. All of the team members that attended the conference completed a 14-day quarantine. We are so fortunate that the few of us that did attend had absolutely no symptoms. Currently we are managing our answering machine DAILY while abiding by the orders of Health Canada to stay home. ...We cannot provide regular dental treatment at this time as we have been instructed to only provide emergency care. If you have a dental emergency, we have our emergency contact information on our answering machine. If it is not an emergency, please call and leave a message and we will return your call within one business day. We want you to know that we care about each and every one of our patients and will continue to keep you updated. Please stay safe and healthy and we cannot wait to see you. Together we can do this! Sincerely, Your Courtenay Dental Health Team

We will reassess our appointments on a week-by-week basis based on the evidence and best practices. We will also use this time to reflect and adapt ourselves to the changing environment and continue to improve all aspects of patient care.
