Humans with CNIB Guide Dogs: Tim & Harlow I was a bit apprehensive I wasn’t sure what to expect, or if Harlow would even like me. But when I first met him, h...e broke the ice right away by rolling over for a tummy rub. Today, Harlow helps me walk to work independently something that’s been great for my health. He also helps me get outdoors when the wife and kids are busy, and we enjoy our walks through the forest together. Harlow is great company indoors, too, and sometimes we go shopping together. He doesn’t always find the best deals though, and I always seem to buy more cookies than I should when he’s leading the way! He is very gentle and enjoys being around our family. He loves curling up by my feet, and having his ears scratched. Harlow is usually very calm, but he can get very excited when playing with his favourite toy: a squeaky, stuffed shark. I’m extremely lucky. Harlow is a wonderful guide dog. Not only is he adored by my family, but my co-workers too. They even bought him a special bed to go beside my desk. It may sound cliché, but he really does brighten everyone’s day." #HumansWithCNIBGuideDogs [Photo of Tim and his guide dog Harlow, sitting in a boat with the water in the background. In white space to the right of the photo the words, Humans with CNIB Guide Dogs, brought to you by are written, with the Royal Canin logo pictured underneath.]

This is definitely worth sharing for the sake of promoting awareness and this person definitely said it well. This reminds me when I used to work in our CNIB Te...chnical Aids Store when our building used to be located on Main Street West. There were two older ladies browsing in our store and I was dealing with my paperwork in my adjoining office, but the door was open. The two ladies were whispering and I clearly heard one say to the other about me, He can’t see! Well, little did they come to realize that I do have some useful vision, but I shut them up by simply responding, No, but I have perfect hearing!
Ontario Optometrists like Dr. Joe Chan make a drastic impact on the health of their patients everyday. And these optometrists still need your help. Optometrists and patients deserve a funding solution to protect the future of eye care. #SaveEyeCare www.saveeyecare.ca
Give them a great head start, call now to book your back to school eye exams. 905-435-8262
Wondering how you can take care of your eyes while working from home? Here's some advice from OAO member Dr. Nicole Bergeron, appearing on CBC/Radio-Canada: https://ici.radio-canada.ca//rattrapage-du-vendredi-16-o/6
It's that time. Even though things seem up in the air for our kids to return back to school, give them a head start by having their vision checked. Call our office 905-435-8262 to make an appointment. So, are we buying back to school clothes or pajamas? Asking for a friend
It's the weekend! Time to pick out a beauty from the pumpkin patch and get them carved.
From the Toronto Sun: "There’s a special fundraising summer event taking place across Canada on Aug. 15, and you’re all invited. And it checks off all the boxes...: It’s virtual, socially-distanced and it’s a party-with-a-purpose raising funds for the CNIB Lake Joe..." Join us for CNIB Muskoka: Dock-to-Dock Party with a Purpose, a socially-distanced party in support of CNIB Lake Joe! Tune in from your dock, city balcony, backyard, or boat, with returning emcee Joan Kelley Walker!! There's still time to register - visit http://www.cnib.ca/docktodock for more information. This morning we had Tim Mash EMS and Mike retrain our staff in C.P.R. We are all certified for another year!
Think there may be some tall tales to tell you tomorrow!

Thank you for making our office run efficiently and keeping it safe, we couldn't do it without you! Now watch out for flying turkeys! See more
The following story illustrates the importance of routine eye health checks. Don't forget your friendly neighbourhood optometrist doesn't just check your eyes for glasses. Dr. Bennett, Dr. Jost, and Dr Chan all graduated together from Waterloo University in 1991.
OAO President Dr. Sheldon Salaba had a great interview on 640 Toronto Global News Radio with Kelly Cutrara! Listen here: #SaveEyeCare
Courtice Optometry and their staff would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Gobble gobble! Just a friendly reminder that the office will be closed until Tuesday October 13 so that we may celebrate Thanksgiving with our families.

THANK YOU SCIENCE! We tried out two hacks to prevent your glasses from constantly fogging up while wearing a face mask. https://gma.abc/2W1redK
Who are these masked men you may ask? It's no other than our very own Dr. Jost and Dr. Bennett sporting their "Covid lockdown hair". All safety measures are in place, they are prepped and ready for your safe return. It may be hard to recognize them though, they thankfully got to their barbers!
Chronic underfunding coupled with the impacts of COVID-19 (patient volumes reduced by 50%) means optometry practices are significantly struggling to survive. Help optometrists advocate for a long term solution that protects patients and public health. Add your voice by sending a letter to your MPP. Use our template letter at https://saveeyecare.ca/
Things a bit blurry? No worries, just give us a call, we are here for all your eye care needs. 905-435-8262
Facial expressions have changed since Covid. Your eyes are now more important than ever, it's the only feature we can see when wearing a mask. Take good care of them and get them checked regularly!
