New year, new direction . First off, a big thank you to everyone I've met this year, who let me capture some special moments for them! I had a blast with everyone and your families, lots of laughs and even some sessions ending in tears (haha). I will be headed back to work full time in 2019! My availability will be very, very limited as I will be transitioning into a full time working mama! Truth be told, I'm absolutely heart broken to leave my baby. Everyone tells me "it ge...ts easier," "it will be nice to talk to adults again," "you'll feel like yourself again and not just a mom" .... so I'm holding onto all of those words of encouragement as we move into this new normal. With that being said, photography is still a deep passion of mine - I love it so, so, so much! I feel free and at ease with a camera in my hands, but I don't want to lose that feeling. I found this past year, when it became a "job" my love for it was slowly fading. I read an interesting article (thank you Emily Gale Photography) about how being a photographer and being a business person are two different things and boy, did it ever speak to me! Loving photography is one thing, but the business side of it... doing up contracts, invoices, answering emails, messages, scheduling, rescheduling, planning and just being available to everyone, all the time (when I'm not much of a social media person in the first place) was hard on me. I struggled to find balance with being a new mom, girlfriend and photographer even in this short year. A huge shout out to all you photographers rockin' the balancing act! SO, if you've read this far, thank you for following along. This is not a goodbye post! I will still be doing sessions when the time allows and I'd like to work on some personal creative projects this year.... THIS PHOTO! I got to work with this babe over the Holidays and I plan to share as many (social media appropriate) photos as I can. I am a body positive advocate! I love having the ability of showing women how beautiful they are and being comfortable in their skin these are the type of sessions that I will never turn down. . Happy New Year everyone! See more
