That exciting announcement did come indeed today, TENNIS IS BACK in Ontario, as of Tuesday, May 19th! Also, City of Ottawa has sent a communication today to all... the municipal clubs regarding access granted to start courts preparation and maintenance as of Saturday, May 16th. Please use the Tennis Canada and OTA "Return to Play" guidelines (sent in document form, constant contact to clubs and competitors) for return to play and be sure to adhere to all the health and safety regulations by the city. The NCTA is working in consultation with the city at the moment to apply those guidelines into the local context, based on feedback from OTA member clubs, NCTA board and it will be up to the clubs to make necessary adjustments of their own. We are only in Phase 1 of this process, so we strongly recommend for everyone to continue exercise social distancing and safety at all times, for club executives, lead by example and educate your members, partners, family members and friends. Have your own string? No problem! We do lots of custom stringing. Had a few to string this week using Kevlar (yep, the same stuff they make bullet proof vests from!). Super durable but definitely not for anyone with elbow problems!

Why do badminton strings break? This article provides detail on some of the most common causes. Another cause not listed in this article is using plastic/nylon shuttlecocks as they can cause nicks in the string and lead to it breaking much quicker (especially at higher tensions).
