Cowessess First Nation 15.01.2021

Hi, it is with great honour to provide a update on COVID-19: 1. As of this hour Cowessess FN has three active cases on the reserve. All cases are at home and the Health Department is assisting in recovering. We wish them only the best in their recovery. 2. There seems to be confusion as to who is self isolating due to contact with someone who tested positive. If someone was within two meters for more then 15 minutes and/or did not have a mask on to someone who was a positive... COVID 19 case, you are considered a close contact. This defines close contact. If in doubt call 811. Some have declared themselves in isolation without consulting a health professional and others are outside their home in the community where they should be calling 811 for clarity. We all must play our part. If in doubly, call 811. We do testing on the reserve. I understand some are private people and asking for help or unsure if they want to admit a potential case, we will work with you in the most professional manner. In order does our community to remain low risk of COVID-19 we must tackle this as a collective. We got resources and professionals ready to help. 3. Curfew is 10pm to 5am. Anyone out during this time may be questioned. We understand some work during these hours and we just want to make sure all are safe at home. 4. Our Front Line Safety Workers at the Post Office, Store, and north and south entrance of 605 grid are there to assure we remain low risk of COVID-19. Please assure to thank them and please provide them the patience as they do their job. 5. The Administration offices are close for the week. Thank you to staff who need to be at work to assure essential services are done. Anyone seeking to contact someone at work, cell work phones and emailing is available. Someone is checking voice mail at office from time to time. Post Office is regular hours, Store One is 8am-9pm, and Water Treatment Plant is 9am-12noon. 6. Currently we are in a medium to high risk situation on the reserve. All it took was a few gatherings where someone did test positive. For the coming days, we ask all to remain safe at home as we assure there is not community transfer. If someone must leave home, don’t go against what 811 said, please have a purpose, wear a mask, and sanitize as much as possible. 7. Our community weekly meeting is today. Please note it is at 3pm today and not 5pm like prior weeks. We got two guests who will share there experience with COVID-19 and how they are recovering. Please join and share the link with others who may want to join. If you show signs of COVID-19, call 811. If you have suggestions or recommendations, contact me at (639)205-7960. Hi, it is with great honour to provide a update on COVID-19: 1. Our biggest test to date about COVID-19 will be over the next few days in the community. Someone having COVID-19 is not a bad thing, getting COVID-19 is not a bad thing. How a individual responds once they are identified as having COVID-19 or told by a Nurse or 811 they are a close contact will determine if we remain low risk as a community. Close contact means someone was not wearing a mask and remaining closer ...then 2 meters from someone who may have it. In order to be someone in close contact will be determined by answering questions by the Nurse or from calling 811. 2. Store One in the community has become a medium risk place. Monitoring who goes in will continue. If anyone has been told to self-isolate, this means to go home and not stop at the store. Anyone going into the store are to sanitize, wear a mask and only one person per vehicle are to enter. If we sense people that are to be self-isolating are going to the store we will need to consider closing the store for a few days. We all need to play our part to minimize the risk. 3. Cowessess does has testing available on reserve. Anyone who shows symptoms or has been in close contact (did not wear a mask and was within 2 meters of someone who has COVID-19) are to call 811 and request to have test on Cowessess. 4. Our Front Line Safety Workers will be contact tracing at Store One, Post Office, and any vehicle entering the reserve. Please provide the upmost respect to our Front Line Staff as they are front line assuring our community remain low risk. 5. The Administration Offices will remain closed until Monday, January 18th. Anyone seeking to contact staff are to email or call. Someone does check voice mail but are limited to office time. 6. Housing Department and Health & Social Development department will provide emergency services at this time. 7. Post Office is on regular hours, Water Treatment Plant is 9am-12pm, Store One is 8am-9pm. 8. Community curfew is 10pm to 5am. 9. Peacekeepers are have increased their shifts to assure more presence is available during this time. You can contact Peacekeepers at (306)696-7383. Thank you to all who have been sacrificing personal needs to assure the community remains low risk. We need all on the community and friends who rely on local services to comply with our efforts to minimize the risk. There are a few who are not taking this serious and these kind of actions make it a medium to high risk. Anyone not complying with self-isolation direction from 811 or the nurse, authorities will be contacted. If you show signs of COVID-19, call 811. If you have ideas or suggestions, contact me at (639)205-7960. Cadmus Chief

Hi, it is with great honour to provide a update on COVID-19: 1. Border monitoring is on the 605 grid north and south entrance. Anyone leaving please stop and grab a mask if you need one. All vehicles must stop when entering. The information shared is for contract tracing if a case is to arise. Thank you to border monitoring workers for assuring our community remains low risk. 2. Everyone must wear a mask when unable to maintain 2-meter distance, when entering any public buil...ding, and anyone entering a residential home and not on the tenant list. Masks do minimize the risk. 3. The Last Oak Golf and Country Club is offering lunch and supper specials for $5 for tenants on Cowessess and staff. This is to minimize travel off the reserve when someone is seeking restaurant style food. Please follow Last Oak Facebook page or call for more information (306)696-3204 4. We have been providing safety measures to minimize the risk of COVID-19. The responsibility to assure minimal risk comes when tenants, friends and family, and staff also play a serious part. We will get through this together. The anxiety and fear is real and we must assure that someone remain safe at home when they have traveled outside the Country, been in close contact (2-meters) of someone who tested positive, someone experiencing symptoms of high fever, runny nose, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue to mention a few. We are adults and must assure we help one another and support one another where possible. 5. We have our community zoom meeting Mondays and today it is at 5pm. Please share the zoom link to help others join. This meeting provides updates and takes questions or recommendations on minimizing the risk. If you show signs of COVID-19, call 811. If you have comments or questions for me, contact me at (639)205-7960. Chief Cadmus Delorme is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Hi, it is with great honour to provide a update on COVID-19: 1. Border monitoring is set up at 605 grid road north and south entrances. Vehicles entering must stop and questions/answers will help in contract tracing if a case arrises. Anyone leaving the reserve and needs a mask, please stop and get what you need. They will be monitored 7am to 11pm Dailey. Thank you to front line staff at our borders for helping minimize the risk. 2. Curfew on the reserve is 10pm to 5am. Duri...ng this time Peacekeepers will stop vehicles to ask questions. 3. Peacekeepers are front line to assure the community is a safe place. Their duties are delivery to homes, assisting in emergency situations and available to help the community when required. We will have two vehicles on certain shifts to assure the community minimizes the risk. Thank you to Peacekeepers for being front line to assure our community is safe. 4. Anyone who is not on the Cowessess housing list must have a purpose when coming onto the reserve. By this I mean check mail, store, WTP, dropping off groceries, etc. Visiting is not recommended at this time. We empower each home to enforce this and the band will also play our part. 5. To all living on the reserve, one of the safest places to be in within the community. We understand leaving the reserve is needed from time to time. We ask tenants to leave as minimal as possible, have a purpose when leaving and get home as soon as possible. When out, wear a mask, sanitize as much as possible and remain two-meters from others not in your household. 6. COVID-19 testing is available at the Cowessess Health Centre. Call 811 and if a test is required, request to have it done on Cowessess FN. 7. If you need to connect with a Doctor, please use Lumeca option which information is attached. If you cannot do from your phone, there is a Hub booth available at the Band Office. If you show signs of COVID-19, call 811. If you have ideas or suggestions, please contact me at (639)205-7960.
