Good morning, We had an unfortunate accident in the Sportsplex parking lot yesterday afternoon at 3:40 PM. We are looking for anyone who may have witnessed a hit and run at that time. Please read the below message from the folks whose vehicle was damaged, and if you have any information please call us at 250-746-5666. Thank you! We have a white 2020 Toyota Tundra, it was hit on the front passenger side fender today (September 17, 2020) around 3:40pm while parked in the Cowi...chan Sportsplex parking lot. The hit and run vehicle was a white Dodge Ram diesel truck and was driven by a young woman with a 1-2 year old in the backseat. The hit and run vehicle, hit our vehicle while backing up and would likely have damage on their driver's side taillight and/or bumper. The hit and run was witnessed by 3 individuals at the Sportsplex, but they were not able to get a driver's license as the vehicle quickly drove away. Any help would be greatly appreciated! See more
CEEVACS bringing the fun and the Boston Marathon to the Valley... Way to go!!!
Some exciting news!! Terry Fox and CHEK have teamed up to do a telethon!! Please read the below information regarding the event and share share share!! Lets have some fun with this!! I for one can't wait to watch it!! Hello my fellow Terry Foxers, My name is Darren Wark, I am one of the many who help make the Mile 0 Terry Fox Run in Victoria come together every year. With the Terry Fox Run going virtual this year we had to think outside of the group gathering box so... We approached CHEK about putting together a telethon and they LOVE the idea! On Friday, 18 September 2020 from 5-7pm CHEK will be focusing all non-news segments on everything Terry. We are looking for short and exciting video clips from you or Terry’s Team members in your area. We want to share the stories of folks from all around CHEK’s broadcast area. We are a diverse and proud community, let's show everyone who we are and why Terry is so important to all of us. Soon you will start to see advertising on CHEK promoting the telethon. Please help us make this a fun, loving, supportive event. We need your help bringing our regional community together. We will be following all social distancing protocols as set out by our Provincial Health Officer. Please make certain you are in full compliance. One way we are doing this is by pre-recording videos for the broadcast. CHEK has asked for videos to be around 10 seconds long and using your phone is perfectly acceptable. Here is a sample script, please use your creativity to entertain the audience! HI I’M (full name) FROM (Victoria, Langford, Pender Island, Comox etc) AND I’VE BEEN VOLUNTEERING FOR THE TERRY FOX FOUNDATION FOR ____ YEARS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT TONIGHT Please shoot this on your phone (horizontally) and then email to [email protected] When sending in your video title the subject line TERRY FOX BUMPER please. We must have our videos in before September 7, 2020. Please reach out to me or Linda Johnstone if you have questions or suggestions of notable guests with longer video submissions. Please share this email and great news with everyone you know! Let’s spread the word! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! #TryLikeTerry #OneDayYourWay

Week one of the run /walk clinic was great. Started off with a meet and greet with a guest speaker Monday night. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, my friends and I felt great. We signed up and we showed up! Happily carrying on in the week feeling good knowing we were doing something positive for ourselves until I had this thought... maybe I should go online and see what we are supposed to do for week 2, only to find we had three run/walks scheduled in week one!! OH NO!! I hastily dusted off my runners and did one of the run/walks. So... going into week #2, two run/walks behind. Not how we wanted the beginning to go but we shall move forward with a lesson learned. Always stay up to date and check what is expected for the week!! Looking forward to meeting our coaches for our group tonight!! #ceevacs #run/walk clinic
