Happy New Year everyone! Lee and I spent the last two days tucked away in a wee cozy rustic cabin just steps from the Cowichan River. We feel asleep in the lo...ft to the sounds of rain on the rooftop and the full, rushing, churning emerald green river just outside the front door. We read, watched bald eagles perched in low branches as the fog and mist wound its way through the valley, inhaled deep lungfuls of wonderfully clean, fresh, crisp winter air, snuggled up by the fire both inside and outside, ate delicious and simple food, listed to music, talked for hours, and rang in the New Year all cuddled up in the peaceful quiet...two celestial bodies in divine collision. 2020 is going to be an exquisite year, I can feel it!

The Trappers Cabin is considering remaining open this winter for you fool hearty Trappers. Although the weather can be challenging at the cabin in the winter, with 2 fireplaces and a stockpile of dry firewood available it can also be a unique experience. For you dedicated hunters the Trappers Cabin can also offer you a secure meat pole if you are considering looking for a base camp in the Lake Cowichan area. The woodstove on the deck offers you a chance to dry your gear at the end of a long wet day.

Who needs Sunfest when there’s a Noonfest? The Trappers Cabin was graced last weekend by 5 great musicians. A good time was had by all! Please check the availability calendar for some recent opening in July.

The Trappers Cabin definitely knows it’s spring with the swallows, trilliums, and the fry emerging from the gravel in great numbers in the (Trappers) side channel.

Although the "Trappers" cabin is still surrounded by snow, the bookings are coming in for some anticipated great spring fishing. Don't miss out.
