Eighteen years ago a man with an enormous vision and a wild dream decided to start a business in an industry he knew nothing about and had never experienced. He... started drafting a business plan and learning about cows and his wife began studying and training to make cheese. His energy, passion, and drive were infectious and, along with Nancy, an incredibly involved and supportive family, a dedicated staff team, and a great community, Clarke built this business into what it is today. It is with immense sadness and shock that we announce his death, on Saturday night June 29. He lost his life in a hiking accident in Strathcona Park, where he loved to pursue his passion for mountaineering. He will be remembered dearly by the innumerable people he reached in his many circles and he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Gourlay, his mother Dorothy Gourlay, his sons Kevin Gourlay, John Gourlay and Raymond (& Rebecca) Gourlay, and his grandchildren Kieran and Dahlia.

Spring forward or fall back? The provincial government is looking for public opinion on whether BC should follow some western states as they move toward permane...nt daylight saving time. Today's announcement acknowledges agriculture among key industries that would be impacted. The survey takes about five minutes to complete. Written submissions are also welcome. https://buff.ly/2RAVus7 See more

Almost a year after the federal Liberals announced penciled a new lending program for women in agriculture in the budget, new Minister of Agriculture and Agri-F...ood Canada Marie-Claude Bibeau has announced FCC’s Women Entrepreneur Program. The program will make $500 million available over the next three years. It will also include partnerships and create online content targeting female agriculture and agri-food entrepreneurs. The government’s new release encourages women to use waived loan fees to invest into personal and professional development. The new loan is gender specific, a point some Country Life in BC followers took issue with when the original budget announcement was made last year. See more

BREAKING NEWS! The province has extended the deadline for registering wells and licensing groundwater use for a third time. The new deadline gives producers unt...il March 2, 2022 to register their wells. The surprise move came in view of the fact that only a fraction of non-domestic groundwater users had made a move to register their wells. Groups such as the Okanagan Basin Water Board and even former government staff had questioned the original deadline of February 28, which threatened to make criminals of thousands of unlicensed water users across BC.
