While it may seem a little early to start thinking about the 2021 Lady of the Lake program, the ever-changing situation with COVID-19 means we have to do a little extra planning and preparation this year. It is the intention of the LOTL Society to still hold a pageant in 2021, but of course this may look a little different in order to uphold any public health orders that may still be in effect at that time. If you are a young lady in grade 11 and are interested in running for Lady of the Lake 2021 you are strongly encouraged to connect with the LOTL Society at your earliest convenience to discuss next year’s program.
This weekend would have marked 75 years of Lady of the Lake royalty in our community. Though our plans to celebrate this milestone were sidelined due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lady of the Lake Society did not want to pass up the opportunity to mark this occasion. Over the past 75 years, the program has seen many changes. What was once a ticket sales competition has now transformed in to an ambassador program, but none the less it remains a beloved tradition in the Cowicha...n Lake area. With changes also comes challenges: the last two years we have unfortunately had low candidate numbers and thus were unable to run the program, though COVID-19 would have forced us to postpone it this year anyways. We are using this time off as an opportunity to rebuild and plan for next year, and we have high hopes that the program will once again flourish in 2021. We have also lost people who were near and dear to the program, and had a huge impact on its development. Through all the ups and downs we would like to thank all the former royalty and candidates, parents, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters of the Lady of the Lake program from over the years. We are grateful to be a part of a community that continues to embrace our program. Please enjoy this video showcasing royalty from the past 75 years, and a special thank you to Brooklyn Kruk (2017 1st Princess) for putting this together! - Jocelyn Lundberg, LOTL Society President
The Lady of the Lake Society is putting together something special to commemorate what would have been our 75th Anniversary. If you have any old photos, newspaper articles, etc. that you would like to share with us, please email them to [email protected] along with the year. Photos taken from Facebook have poor quality when they are used for other purposes so e-mailing would be a huge help to us. Thank you so much!
Sadly we must report that our entire workshop series will now be cancelled. Thank you again for your support and understanding, and we hope that everyone stays healthy and safe during these challenging times.
Due to the rapidly changing situation regarding COVID-19, we regret to inform you that we will be cancelling our March 31st workshop. The health and well-being of our community is very important to us and for this reason we do not want to put anyone in an environment that may negatively impact the public health climate. The status of our remaining workshops will hopefully be updated by the end of the week. Thank you all for understanding!
Don’t forget about our meeting tomorrow night! We are very eager to discuss our program and get some feedback for the future.
