#RentSupportNow Save Small Business, along with the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas, submitted a proposal for a rent abatement strategy to the federal government last week that calls for: the federal government to provide grants to landlords that waive rent to small business tenants; provincial governments to put a moratorium on commercial rent lockouts; banks to pause property debt payments without paying interest; and all levels of government to work to ea...se property tax and utility payments. That proposal is picking up momentum! The federal government told us they're considering options on rent. The NDP has adopted portions of our proposal in their proposals to Minister Morneau. The Conservatives have called for non-debt support for small businesses in the form of GST refunds. You can help keep the pressure on by amplifying this CBC article that really clearly lays out the need for rent support. Send it to your MP and post on social media. So let's help to put pressure and get what we need to survive COVID-19! See more
