Sweet Django Django started Private Lessons with me about a month ago. We had some goals set for Django, one of them being his reactivity on leash towards other dogs. When I first met Django, everything in his environment would make him so adrenalized that he would make bad choices. Was there any malice behind his actions? No, he would just get himself so jacked up. When working through behaviour modification, it’s not just obedience that we are looking at. We break everyt...hing down, what is happening before he gets into this state of mind, what does it look like in the house, does he have an off switch, he is able to self sooth. Walking Django was a bit of a nightmare, avoiding dogs, and avoiding triggers. One thing I hear a lot, how do I correct this, how do I punish this behaviour, The biggest question I always have is, are we being fair? Does the dog understand what is being ask of him. Most of the time, it’s no, the dog doesn’t understand, so we need to teach, teach the dog how to be in the best possible state of mind, teach the dog what we need to do in certain situations, we develop an understanding. Charging a marker word, building a motivator (most of the time we use food), building engagement, teaching the dog the simplest of tasks so we can use the tasks to bring predictability in an environment that may be a trigger. There’s always a first place to start, and we need to have realistic goals. Django has come a long ways, is he perfect no, but he’s definitely making better decisions, and his head space is more clear. His handler has put some great work into him and we can only keep progressing and moving forward! For training inquiries, email one of our great trainers. Board and Train Lincoln - 5 months old. I hear it echoing in my mind; he’s fine when we’re at home or, in the house, the dog is amazing. If I had a doll...ar for every time i heard that, i’d be retired living on a tropical island. Here’s the thing friends... If you don’t proof things outside the confines of your home or your property, you will never know where the dog really is . You will have a false sense of security and be terribly disappointed. Unfortunately too many times, we get complacent, life gets busy, we’re tired, its getting dark earlier and, it’s getting colder. Our dogs don’t care about our excuses. A few things here. One, before you go running out to Canadian Tire with your dog, make sure your dog is up for the test. You don’t start here. This is one of many pieces of the puzzle. Two. If you’re going to ask your dog to do a thousand dollar behaviour, be prepared to pay the piper both in value and frequency until that behaviour becomes easy for them - then you increase from pro level, to expert...and begin again. Three. Manage the crowd. Most people will ask to approach. But don’t take for granted everyone understands simple boundaries. If you heard the conversation, the person was approaching Lincoln. Decidedly yet politely, I TOLD her if you don’t mind...leave him where he is...thank you. One person actually went right up to him, and grabbed the leash ! She was nun...I wasn’t prepared to tempt fate. She did put him back in a down. It was a win win. I actually went right out sight several times and Lincoln did fantastic. Be as kind as you can be. As fair as you can be. As firm as you need to be. And as consistent as the dog needs. Way you go. Post a pic or video of your dog and degree of difficulty you both are working on #ottawadogtraining #ottawadogtrainer #ottawadoglifestyle #bulldog #puppy #puppytraining #ottawapuppytrainer #ottawapuppytraining #orleansdogtrainer #orleansdogtraining #orleanspuppytraining #orleanspuppytrainer #dogtraining See more

Elsa is currently in our Board and Train program. I worked with her a few years back, she has aged and has fallen into some behaviour that we are working through. She is still as sweet as she was the first day I met her

Sapphire Sapphire was the first to come through our new Day Train Program. Here are some words from her owner. This is why I love doing what we do, helping owners and dogs become the best possible version of themselves. My staff were amazing in working with her and helping make this happen The staff are phenomenal at what they do. They are highly accommodating with your schedule and treat each dog like one of theirs. I enrolled my husky/lab in their new Day Train prog...ram and the vast difference in my dog’s headspace and mannerisms were immaculate. My primary concern was recall but they helped me understand the importance of respect in order to do so. They helped me to understand my dog which has strengthened our connection opening a life of possibilities! Natasha and her team are knowledgable as well as realistic with the goals for you and your dog. With lots to continue on my behalf, my dog has a new level of respect thanks to their dedicated hard work. Natasha even followed up between days spent there to ensure everything continued smoothly after hours. I cannot thank Coyote Canine team enough and will be recommending them to everyone I know!

Tank and Gemma did amazing in their private lessons today Tank started private lessons to help build his and his handlers confidence. He would react to dogs passing, this big boy can be hard to hold back if he reacts so getting him on the right track was very important for his handlers. There are many things to take into consideration when doing behaviour modification, changing how the dog feels about different stimuli can be challenging at times. Tank has many great hands in the city to help him be pain free and to help him become the best version of himself. Gemma started with our puppy package. She has had and still has some big hurdles to overcome with her health but her amazing owners have been with her every step of the way. She has a beautiful soul and I am excited to watch her grow and progress.
