Trudeau Liberals Cannot Hide Truth About COVID-19 Pandemic from Canadians October 15, 2020 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE... OTTAWA, ON The Hon. Michelle Rempel Garner, Shadow Minister for Health, issued the following statement regarding the Trudeau Liberals’ refusal to be transparent with Canadians about their handling of the COVID-19 pandemic: Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trudeau Liberals’ failures have cost Canadians their lives, jobs and time. These include: -Telling Canadians that there was no person-to-person spread of COVID-19; -Telling Canadians that border control measures and masks didn’t work; -Sending critical supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) to China when we had a shortage; -Abdicating responsibility for the pandemic to the provinces; -Failing to ensure Canadians have access to rapid and at-home testing options; -And shutting down the federal pandemic early warning system, just months before COVID-19. Given Justin Trudeau’s pandemic failures, Canadians deserve to know what evidence the Liberal government has relied on to make decisions, and to see a concrete plan to protect their health and our economy going forward. That is why on Friday, I tabled a motion at the Health Committee calling on the Trudeau government to release documents related to the COVID-19 pandemic. But instead of supporting my commonsense motion, the Liberals dragged their feet and then voted to shut down the committee meeting entirely. These are the same outrageous cover-up tactics that the Liberals are using to block investigations into Justin Trudeau’s unethical behaviour in the WE Scandal. If the Liberal government has nothing to hide, why are Liberal MPs breaking the rules at committees and doing everything in their power to stop Opposition MPs from obtaining important documents? Canadians deserve the truth, whether its related to Liberal corruption or incompetence. Justin Trudeau’s failed pandemic policies have cost people their lives, their jobs and their time. More than seven months into the pandemic, and Canadians still don’t have access to rapid testing. What good is the COVID Alert App, if you can’t get a test or your results for days? On Monday, the Health Committee will once again be meeting to discuss my motion. Liberal MPs will have a choice to make, between covering up the truth, or being transparent with Canadians. I sincerely hope that all parties can agree that Canadians deserve to know how their government is managing a health crisis.

Trudeau Admits he got Rent Relief Program Wrong October 09, 2020 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE... Ottawa, ON Pierre Poilievre, Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance, and Pat Kelly, Conservative Shadow Minister for Small Business and Western Economic Development, released the following statement regarding the announcement of a new rent relief program for Canadian businesses: For five months, Conservatives and entrepreneurs called for changes to the Liberals’ rent relief program so that tenants could apply directly, and for the introduction of a sliding scale instead of requiring a 70% reduction in revenue, so that more businesses could receive help. After five months of inaction, the Trudeau Liberals have finally made these changes. Small businesses need to know the details of government programs so they can plan for the future. There is no excuse for the Trudeau Liberals to leave these small businesses in the dark and announce a new program over a week after the previous program expired. Any changes or extensions to the rent relief program should have been announced before the previous program expired. The Liberals’ previous rent relief program was a disaster. It did nothing for 90 percent of small businesses in Canada and was widely criticized by entrepreneurs across the country. During this pandemic, the Liberals have continuously got emergency programs wrong for small businesses and Canadian workers have been left behind. We will review this new rent relief program to ensure that small businesses are properly supported. Conservatives will continue to stand up for workers and entrepreneurs across Canada. Conservatives Back Anti-Corruption Committee to Combine WE Scandal Investigations October 12, 2020 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ottawa, ON Conservative Shadow Minister for Ethics, Michael Barrett and Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance, Pierre Poilievre announced today Conservative caucus support for a Special Anti-Corruption Committee to combine the efforts of multiple Parliamentary investigations into the WE scandal. ... While they await the establishment of the new anti-corruption committee, MP Poilievre and MP Barrett also pledged marathon sittings this week to overcome Liberal filibustering. In the last ten days, Liberals have shut down or talked-out three committees to avoid investigations into the WE scandal. We will not stop, said MP Barrett. The complete disregard the Liberals have demonstrated towards the essential work of Parliament and the Prime Minister’s habitual ethics violations is deeply alarming. Conservatives will not stop until the entire truth is exposed, added MP Barrett. We need an anti-corruption committee to get the truth in the WE scandal, said Poilievre. Trudeau shutdown Parliament and is now trying to paralyze committees, preventing Canadians from getting to the truth on his half-billion-dollar payment to a group that paid over half-a-million dollars to his family. The Finance Committee will meet Thursday of this week and Conservatives will push for the Ethics Committee to meet this week.
