As we prepare to return to Curling at the CPCC, here is some important information: -Registration will be conducted from September 15 - 30. -All members must submit their registration form (online, scanned document emailed, faxed, mailed or dropped off at the club) by September 30 so we know how many people will curl. This is critical to determining if the season will go ahead or not. -Payment must be received by Sept. 30 via E-transfer or online credit card transaction, by S...eptember 30. If mailed in with cheque it must be postmarked by that date. -New members are welcome but only if they have previous curling experience. - All the details including registration form and the return to curling document will be posted here by September 15. Update from Tammy and Cary : Hi Everyone, We apologize that this is late in coming, but Cary and I have been trying to find the words to thank everyone for their support and generosity during this difficult time.... As a club you stood by us with a desire to help that has deeply touched our hearts. Your offers of accommodation, clothing, household essentials, and shoulders to lean on, have meant so very much to us. We feel blessed to be a part of such an amazing curling club. We would also like to say a special Thank You to Kelsey Brunton for initiating the GoFundMe page on Facebook. The response received is overwhelming, and has been instrumental in helping us get back on our feet again. Please know that your kindnesses will always remain deep in our hearts. Stay safe, and have a wonderful summer. Tammy and Cary See more

CPCC Members Lose House to Fire Hi Everyone, In case you haven't heard, on July 25th, two members of the Carleton Place Curling Club have lost their home to a devastating fire. Fortunately, they made it out ok with the clothes on their backs, their wallet/purse, phones, and tablet that contained lots of personal pictures. ... Cary & Tammy Baxter go out of their way to help the curling club any way they can. Together, they have helped with the Youth Curling program, have coordinated and assisted with numerous bonspiels, and have been the ones who keep our sign up to date. Cary had also served on the Board of Directors. The Carleton Place Curling Club (CPCC) would like to do what we can to help these two get back on their feet. Since the COVID-19 restrictions prevent us from undertaking regular fundraisers, we have decided to proceed through gofundme. On behalf of the CPCC, we invite you to donate to help Cary & Tammy and to show our community spirit once again.

Club Suspending Operations Due to Coronavirus March 15, 2020 We have an important message to all CPCC members:... After much debate, and with deep regret, the Carleton Place Curling Club Board of Directors (Board) has decided that the club will cease all further curling and events this season, effective immediately. The Town of Carleton Place conducted a special emergency meeting on March 13, followed by a news release. The Town has made a proactive decision to protect its staff and the public by closing all Town-owned facilities to the public effective immediately, cancelling all Town-run events and programming, and cancelling all private functions held at any of its facilities. Although the CPCC is privately operated by its members and not subject to the Town's decision, we feel that we should also keep to the spirit of protecting our employees and members, who are mostly within the vulnerable demographic as well as at-risk individuals. We cannot guarantee the safety of our staff and members if the club remains open to curling, and it does not make sense to continue with the club operations if it puts staff and members at risk. Thus, consistent with the Town of Carleton Place's declaration about closure of many public venues, the Board feels strongly that it is being proactive and prudent to cease activities within the club. Fortunately, we have been able to get through most of the season already. More details will follow concerning the determination of league champions, when to remove your belongings from the club, and any other lesser details. The ice plant will be turned off by tomorrow. Ottawa public health has new web content to provide guidance on considering risks and mitigations for events and mass gatherings. Refer to OttawaPublicHealth.ca/Coronavirus for the latest information. Given that the situation is fluid, we recommend checking the page daily for updated guidance. At present the Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, has been postponed. A new date will be chosen and we will let you know as soon as possible. We wish you all the best of health !! Jason Smith CPCC President

I am so proud of these young men. They qualified for the Gores Ontario School Provincial Championships. They went 2-1 in their pool which qualified them for the... semi finals, they won and qualified for the finals. They got behind early which they are used to. They never gave up and came back with steals in the seventh and eighth ends to tie it and force an extra end. It came down to the last rock with the other skip making his shot to win. They came home silver medalist. They still have one more high school event with round one starting this week. See more
