Government provides financial aid for those affected by COVID-19.

When it comes to repaying the increased debt load from a deferral, there may be other complications for mortgage holders. The Canadian Bankers Association issued a statement late Sunday night saying, "Customers should understand that [a deferral] is not mortgage forgiveness. Mortgage deferral means that payments are skipped for a defined period of time, during which interest which would otherwise be part of the deferred payments is added to the outstanding balance of the mort...gage." As tax season slowly approaches this is a great read on the financial implications of not filing your taxes on time. If you owe money to the CRA, you will endure a late filing penalty of 5% of your unpaid taxes, plus 1% a month for 12 months from the filing due date. That’s just for the first strike. If you fail to file on time again within a three-year period, that penalty goes up to 10% of unpaid taxes plus 2% per month for a maximum of 20 months. Read on for further details......
