Research has shown the importance of standing for children with Cerebral Palsy and those who are delayed in standing and walking. This post by Leckey shows the ...many benefits provided by a standing frame. Standing frames should not be substituted by walkers. They have different benefits and purposes and children who are delayed in standing and walking should have access to both. Paleg et al, (2013) state the following guidelines: Standing programs can be safely started as early as 9 to 10 months of age., Stand at least 45 to 60 minutes daily; 60 minutes is optimal to increase hip, knee, and ankle ROM, Sixty degrees of total bilateral hip abduction improves abduction ROM, but an optimal angle has not been established. Posted @withregram @leckeydotcom There's so many reasons why standing is important for children. Swipe to find out why! #leckey #standingtherapy #physicaltherapist #specialneeds See more
