New week, new day, new rules. Moving into the Restrict Orange zone. Here's some (not all) of notable changes that we'll have to follow at the brewery. Liquor sold or served only between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. This means beer off the tap and in-person retail will be closed at 9pm. You can still place your bottle order online at www.craftheads.ca/shop and we'll deliver free in Windsor/Essex County.... Require patron contact information for all seated patrons. No fake names like (Al Coholic, Jacques Strap or Hugh Jass) Screening of patrons is required, in accordance with instructions issued by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health. We'll be asking you a short questionnaire upon your visit because we have to and not because we want to. Limit of 4 people may be seated together. We have limited tables so if we're full, grab some beer to go. Please be respectful to anyone working right now. FLASH FLOOD WARNING - PLEASE SHARE A flood warning has been issued for Windsor-Essex due to a "Water Spill" on EC Row Expressway this weekend. Several hundred cans of water were the victims of a three-vehicle bumper-to-bumper collision on Highway 3 in Windsor Thursday morning. Crews are clearing the area and throwing all the cans in the dumpster where it belongs... Officials have asked residents to gather with their social circles this weekend and seek shelter at their nearest craft brewery where the beer doesn't taste like water. Sometimes in life you have to make a stand. What we do in this lifetime echoes through eternity. I want to know that I left this place better than I entered it. Its 2020 and unfortunately Racism still exists. Racial profiling still exists. Systematic oppression still exists. Narrow minded bigotry and hate still exist. We're all humans but some of us choose to treat each other as less than humans. Whether it be because the color of our skin or the lifestyle choices we make. ...We choose to stand against all of this hate by showing love. We are choosing to be the change we wish to see. We are choosing to spark change to spark dialog to spark awareness that everything isn't all right and we are not okay with that. We want to spark that change. We want to spread a message of love, acceptance and equality. It may not seem as much but hopefully this can be the spark to ignite change even if for just one person. Sometimes all it takes is just a spark. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL The Black is Beautiful initiative (started by Weathered Souls Brewing Co.. in San Antonio Texas) is a collaborative effort amongst the brewing community and its customers, in an attempt to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. Their mission is to bridge the gap that's been around for ages and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any color. They have asked for all breweries and brewers far and wide to raise a glass with them in unison and participate in this collaboration. We've partnered with our family, Chef Philippe from Black Magic Culinary Creations to create a Black Magic Spiced Imperial Stout. On Friday August 28 at 6pm, we will be releasing this limited batch on tap and in cans and a food pairing will be complimentary. Food will be limited and is on a first-come, first-served bases.100% of beer and food proceeds will benefit the MH100 Program. MH100 The MH100 program is an after school training program that helps at-risk youth in Windsor and Essex County. Youth registered in the program learn about athletic and academic scholarships, fitness, nutrition, financial literacy, and much more.The programs utilize plyometrics, sports cardio, core, conditioning, and calisthenics to guide physical well-being. What a perfect way to celebrate Stage 3! Amazing turnout last night as we opened up our taproom and welcomed all you thirsty individuals enjoying pints, flights, live music, handshakes and hugs! You could really feel the love and warmth as we sat/stood shoulder to shoulder to one another! We especially loved that everyone was sharing their flights of beer with strangers so they could sample what was on tap! Just kidding. This picture was from a few years ago and judging from ...the comments sections on different posts, only a few of you will read more than the first paragraph/picture. For those of you who have reached this ever critical milestone on this post our Team has decided to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone and will open up the taproom when we feel it is comfortable to do so. It might be a week, it might be two but we'll open up when the proper procedures and setup are in place. In the meantime, we have a beautiful Parklet Patio on Pelissier, a few tables out front on University Ave W, a stocked bottle fridge for beers to go and an online beer delivery at www.craftheads.ca/shop When we do reopen, we'll be serving flights indoors again and our Brewers have made some special brews for the occasion! A moment etched in time... Never would I have imagined this, but let me describe this surreal moment. Sitting down at a table on a sidewalk enjoying one of our favourite meals in the world World Marathon Ethiopian Restaurant with some good company. We are overlooking a closed down street where pedestrians and bikers can freely roam and discover new parts of the downtown core. Behind that is our patio and parklet where our community continues to support us, enjoying beers, slu...shies and Terra Cotta Gourmet Pizzeria all while respecting one another's space. A busker has just finished his set and the sounds of jazz echo from the nearby Phog Lounge parking lot. As you look up, the sun is starting to set and casts a beautiful hue on Victoria Park Place. Sometimes you need to just sit back, relax, take it all in and appreciate the things around us. I could get used to this new normal. Back at it again starting at noon! #ThrowbackThursday Here's a behind the scenes look at the table build that our brewer Jason and I completed for the last street closure Canada Day weekend. We worked well into the night to get them completed and they look oh so good on the new Pelissier Parklet. We've been sharing them with our neighbours at Terra Cotta Gourmet Pizzeria and Queen Ashtar Restaurant on the Parklet but we'll have a few of them out on University Ave W this weekend for the street closure starting ...tomorrow at 5pm! There will be some buskers on the street entertaining and creating a new energy downtown so stop on by for something cold and delicious.
