Side project...Live edge benches. This one was made with a cherry base, walnut top, hand cut through tenons, and walnut pegs. These can be made with other types of wood if desired. Dimensions for this one are 32" long 13" wide and 19."
The Kettle BBQ Workstation is ready! (and the new gazebo) Did some low and slow venison and wild turkey breast for its trial cook and it performed great. no w...orries about heat on wood around edge and i was cooking indirect with charcoal piled right up to the grill in a charcoal organizer. needs some order to go into production! I will start selling them through my website www.craigcustomcabinets.com
Expanding into some outdoor furniture and projects, here is a BBQ work station.

I have a 4ft X 4ft piece of corkboard leftover. anyone need a bulletin board? I can make it any size smaller than 4X4. Cork is a type of bark (suberose parenchyma) that can be harvested from a live cork oak tree in a sustainable way. Peeling the bark off the cork oak tree does not damage or kill the tree. Cork tree bark can be harvested off a single tree for as long as 200 years. The first time bark is harvested is when a tree reaches 20-35 years old. After the bark is peeled the tree will regenerate its bark. It is able to be reharvested every 9-10 years Read more: http://www.ehow.com/about_5100835_corkboard-made.html.
After a few delays, here is the completed wall unit. One of my best yet. more pics coming soon!
Largest door order yet, all for one kitchen! Client is replacing existing doors with new solid oak doors from Kiers Cabinet Doors. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kiers-Cabinet-Doors/110181299005983
Here is a mantel before and after. Original mantel was made from drywall and scrap wood. The final mantel was done in maple and white laquer with added shelves.
This cabinet, when finished was 12 feet long. This is only a 9 foot section and doesnt even fit on the bench. Second picture shows it finished, with the doors (the correct doors!).
This picture is called the "Cabinet of Curiosities" Hmmm. I love the headless guy on the ground, lol. (I love when its my turn to post on our page, right John?)
The re-order is in...here are the correct doors, ready to go! Supplied by http://www.maplecraftdoors.com/ They were very good about the mix up and covered the cost and offered a credit.
No I did not make this...but...I like it!
Now this, is a good idea!
This cold is killing me. Cant get shop past Zero degrees. Too cold to spray laquer. at a stand still. Need to get this job done yesterday!
Here are some interesting wood facts: In 1872, trained forester William Ferguson, reported a fallen Mountain Ash, which was 18 feet in diameter and 435 feet long. The worlds tallest living standing hardwood tree, is a Mountain Ash named Centurion which is located in Tasmania, Australia. It is approximately 329 foot 8 3/4 inches tall.... The tree with the widest {diameter} tree trunk in the world is an African Baobab. Its trunk diameter is almost 49 foot, it has a circumference of 155 foot and is 72 foot tall. The tree with the worlds greatest recorded tree circumference {girth} is the Santa Maria del Tule, an Montezuma Cypress. As the trunk of the tree is not circular in shape but in reality has a distorted and irregular shape, you cant multiply the diameter by 3.14159 {pi} and come up with its true approximate circumference {girth} which is in excess of 160 foot. It is approximately 141 foot tall and over 2000 years old.
Well i think its time to cash in on all these downed branches. Heading off with the chainsaw to see whats left out there. Maybe go to Brantford. Havent had furnace on yet! what a huge savings in this old un-insulated house.
Fun Fact: Prior to 1820, New Orleans first water system relied on Louisiana Cypress to supply fire hydrants and homes. To this day, especially in the French Qu...arter, work crews repairing streets have come across hollowed out cypress logs that once served as pipes centuries ago. #cypresshistory #buried See more
thanks for all the likes. trying to boost my online presence. if you could share some of these posts that would be awesome!!
Heres a desk i finished just before Christmas. Dark oak with custom lighting and framed cork board. It has adjustable shelves and one massive pencil drawer. Face frame construction for the bookcase sections and european boxes for the rest. doors constructed by Craig Custom Cabinets. think how much more work you could get done if you had a big desk like this!!!
Drove down to St. Catherines yesterday to pick up some doors from a company i havent used yet. They come highly recommended. My client liked the doors with custom mullions they make. Well here are the doors: Very nicely done, except they are the wrong style. grr. part of the joys of my job are telling the client there has been a mess up out of my control. I have to say the door company was very accommodating. they admitted to their mistake and are remaking the doors. This messes with my deadline but at least the job will get done properly!
