The light at the end of the tunnel....Or in this case, under the tarp. This photo and caption seemed very fitting considering tomorrow marks a new year. Regardless of the negativity surrounding this year, I can honestly say I have decided to grow in gratitude. The best way to ensure your own personal happiness, is to reflect on what you’re grateful for. So I thought I would take this opportunity to make some honourable mentions. ... To our clients who kept us working, both old and new. To our suppliers who kept their doors open. To our peers who became mentors in this uncertain time. And to the construction workers who kept working, moving our industry and projects forward. Thank you. A big shout out to: @greenstone_fm @maple.leaf.construction @fixmyhouse.ca @hardcorerenos @kreitmaker @hamiltonbuilderssupplyinc @keilhauer_design And to our future clients, we look forward to building our business relationship with you in 2021. Happy New Year! #construction #masonry #winterwork #newyear #gratitude

Together we are strong. This phrase seems to be the first thing that comes to mind when looking back on this final job we completed before taking a much needed break. I was honoured and humbled to team up with @greenstone_fm and once again shadow a true craftsman in our industry Mike Pereira.... The goal was simple, and our setup was a combination of both our ideas put together. The result: the clients were thrilled with the final product. Being a tradesman it’s hard to find compatibility with others. However when you do find that like minded individual the days are full of productivity and the accomplishments are vast. Because together we are strong. #togetherwearestronger #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #stonemason #masonry #ontothenextone #gateway #pillars

The beauty of repair..... Not every job is big, and most of the time I find a lot of learning and honing of skill comes from the smaller ones. This is simply due to the fact that more attention to detail and time can be given to the task at hand you are not overwhelmed by the overall presence of the job but merely there to restore it back to its former self. ... I find doing things you are comfortable with and proficient at, ease your mentality and allow you to almost reset. Which can be a really nice change during the Christmas construction rush. Big shout out to Manny @hardcorerenos for sourcing the brick really saved us a tonne of time. #repair #masonry #brickwork

It costs you nothing for you to change your mindset.... I don’t think a lot of tradesmen and contractors talk about their hard days. You know the days where you seem to be fighting more then winning. When the task at hand seems to just be taking everything physically and mentally. For me it’s mostly the small jobs the ones that don’t look like a lot of work but then something doesn’t line up or fit etc. Etc. ... It those days I use the saying it costs me nothing to change my mindset... and that takes a lot of mental resilience and fortitude to do. But this is what we do as tradesmen and contractors. We problem solve we critically think and then we change or attitude towards the situation which then allows us to overcome. So to anyone out there whose had a hard day try the saying out hopefully it works for you as it does me. #tradesmen #contractorsmind #journeyman #togetherwearestrong

This bowl was gifted to us by the very talented @scottnoblehomes , it’s carved out of a dolomitic soap stone with wood inlay where the stone was blasted out of the ground. Looking at this piece I cannot help but think about me and Scott. He was one of the main reasons I started my trades journey into masonry, he took the fine carpentry route. Which gives this piece a real personal touch being both stone and wood. (A reflection of what we have become but still together.) We still get the opportunity to work together which makes for very productive and fun working days. Here’s to many more years of friendship and working together. Thanks again @scottnoblehomes #journeymen #tradesmen #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #stonecarving #woodinlay

As a mason I feel a little reluctant to pick up new tools. It’s a trade riddled with tradition (and stubbornness. ) Trowels being a very important part in every masons journey I was a little skeptical when picking up this made in Spain @bellotacanada trowel. But I can tell you I’m very thankful I did. I won’t be giving up on my London rose just yet but I will list a few points where the @bellotacanada trowel shines. ... Pros: the round tip makes working out of the bucket a breeze believe it or not the shank is 9 inches which I generally look for in a trowel to not over load my wrist. Another pro buttering units is fast and easy due to once again the round tip one shot and your done. Con: The set is a bit high which may make working off a mortar board a bit weird. How ever if you find yourself working out of a bucket this definitely the trowel for you. I’d like to thank @kreitmaker for supplying us with this tools it will definitely be getting a lot of use. #masonry #toolsofthetrade #bellota #kreitmaker

Where to begin with this one.... A few months ago I reached out to @greenstone_fm with no expectation other then to learn and be taught. Being in the masonry industry for quite sometime now its hard to run into individuals who want to teach and are also encouraging. ... Not only was Mike from @greenstone_fm willing to teach but also motivate when we work together. I honestly cannot thank him enough for the opportunities to work on some of these magnificent projects. Heres looking forward to many more to come. #training #stonework #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #masonry

This was left behind for us by one of our clients before she went out for the day. Needless to say these little gestures go a very long way with any tradesmen working on your job. It’s not a necessity but it’s definitely appreciated and definitely brightens a workers day. #chimney #scaffoldlunch #weloveourclients
