Earlier this year I was chosen to represent Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador on a Municipal Legislative Review Working Group. This working group met bi-weekly for over 3 months and was responsible to collaborate on and provide input into the new legislation that governs municipalities across the province. I was honored to be selected by the MNL President for such an important role. This is another example of the experience I have gained over the last number of years ...that will help me represent the residents of Cape St. Francis as their MHA. In 2019 I ran for election as the Urban Municipalities Director on the Board of Directors of Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador. This position is voted on by the 23 NL municipalities with a population of 3000 or more people. I was successfully elected and proud that those municipalities put their faith in me to represent and advocate for local government on both provincial and national issues. In 2016 there was a request for municipal leaders to attend the first Premier's Forum on local government. This was an opportunity for municipal leaders to bring important issues directly to the Premier and his Cabinet. I put my name forward and was elected by the municipalities in the Avalon Region. Those 67 municipalities, large and small, put their faith and trust in me to speak on their behalf. I was also selected to represent them in 2017 and 2018. This is another exam...ple of the experience I have gained over the last number of years. Residents of Cape St. Francis can count on me just as those towns did to work hard on their behalf as MHA. Thank you so much Ralph Tapper. I certainly enjoyed serving on council with you and I am very proud of our many accomplishments. We worked very hard to try and improve our town and build relationships with the other towns in our region. I promise to bring that same work ethic to the House of Assembly as your MHA.
