I'm literally in tears. I never knew I could look at myself and feel joy and love myself without photoshop or plastic surgery. I'm so used to instagram filters - and yeah I see my wrinkles, my face shape and I see it doesn't fit society's vision of "perfect beauty" but I see MY beauty!! You've captured me perfectly. You captured my soul and my vibe and my energy and now I can see why people may be attracted to me (energetically, professionally, friendship wise, and beyond). ...You helped me SEE me!! And I like what I see. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. The words I received after sending @drerinwatson her gallery. And now I’m in tears Beauty is beyond the constructs and conditions we have been led to believe. It lives within your soul and your fierce fire. These words remind me of why I do what I do #blessed #grateful #humbled Hair + makeup by the talented @samleemua

Little did I know when I chose responsibility for my word of the year, what would unfold. The word distilled is the ABILITY to RESPOND. This gave me much perspective during the first few months of 2020. The power of choice. I could respond one way or another. I could listen to the call of my body, the nudge of intuition, the sound of my inner voice, feel my emotional wisdom. And ACT upon it, moment by moment.... Little did I know that we would see the world shift so profoundly in such a short time. That we would be given a chance as a whole to respond. A collective act of taking responsibility for our own actions in order to serve the greater whole. I am choosing how to respond each day, in each moment. Because even though there is not much sense of control, I get to choose. To bring alignment to that which honours what my body, intuition, heart, emotional being, and mental health needs. It hasn’t been easy let’s be honest, but I have made it simple for myself. RESPOND in the next best way that I can. It doesn’t need to be perfect, look pretty, or make sense. Just the next best choice with the information I know. Asking what is most supportive for my own well-being and that of the collective (staying home, staying diligent). You are able to respond my loves. In the small ways, and the big ones. Both are just as important. It’s what we hold back. Our words, our work, our creative expression. Through my work as an Embodiment Guide + Photographer, I want to give you the space you need to reveal more of yourself.... Yes this will require some bravery, to let this part of ourselves be seen. It’s hard to open our hearts to the world, but there’s a point that each of us reaches where it feels more painful to sit in the shadow then to stand in our light, our truth. I want to show you as the powerful, loving, magnetic human being you are. To make sure your photos reflect that. So you can fully own all that you are becoming. My work is about helping people heal themselves, their relationships with their bodies, to give the perspective to see who they are as human beings. So that they can step forward, more fully embodied. So that they can help those who they are meant to help. So you no longer stand in the shadows Photo of the magnetic @stellahabib from our winter Brand Seasons session last month. A woman standing in her truth and helping others do the same. I used to be scared to photograph larger body sizes. Why? Because I had been taught to hide the things society didn’t like. I had been taught to make things look smaller. As a photographer, and as a woman. We all have. ... Now I see that the work isn’t in making all bodies look the same, through poses and editing. It is in the space I hold, the work I do, the care I take to make the person in front of my lens feel at ease. To not hide things from them, but to show them more of themselves. Your ability to stand in front of my lens is not determined by the size of your body If your body is smaller it does not make you more photographable. I want us to say goodbye to this narrative. Showing + seeing more diversity in front of my lens, in my feed, and in my work is important to me this year. Give me all the curves, the folds, the beautiful landscapes of our vessels #allbodieswelcome See more
