Well it is time for CTS to grow again! After 22 years of operating in Port Moody, moving twice and expanding four times, CTS has now outgrown 84 Moody Street and is moving 7 km away to nearby Port Coquitlam where we have acquired two strata office / warehouses totalling 6,600 square feet . Did you know that CTS has a database of over 11,000 historical traffic counts in Western Canada on our server that we are now making available for a small handling fee? Travel and stay-at home restrictions related to the COVID 19 pandemic have now left transportation Professionals unable to use one of their previously most reliable methods collecting traffic volumes in the field to quantitatively evaluate traffic operations in transportation studies. Today, CTS is issuing a challenge to fellow business owners in the Tri-Cities to join us in helping those employees currently idle to get through the April 1st rent or mortgage payment deadline coming up. This morning we authorized an unannounced special bonus for our active field crew who worked for us in the past month and now have no field work. The goal of this special payment is help reduce their financial stress and bridge the gap while they wait for Provincial and Federal support programs to start up in full earnest in April. Mentally as an employee, there is nothing stronger than knowing that your employer has your back. Well, it's time for some happy news! CTS is thrilled to welcome back Kari Fellows to the CTS Team where she will be our new Engineering Group Manager overseeing 10 traffic engineers out of our Port Moody office. Kari is a Professional Engineer with experience as a Project Manager and government Program Manager in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. Through roles as a consultant and government engineer, she has successfully delivered projects in long range... transportation planning, transportation design, and traffic operations. In addition to holding engineering licenses in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario, Kari is certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer and a Road Safety Professional Level 1 by the Transportation Professional Certification Board. CTS wants to be part of the solution and not the problem so this past Thursday we initiated our coronavirus response plan that was prepared 2 weeks ago. This was done in response to the latest news from the BC Government. For the next two weeks, all our staff that are able to work from home will do so, which is over 90% of our employees and includes all our traffic engineers. However, our office will remain open during this time with reduced staffing levels should you need to reach us. Please join us in practicing social distancing for the next 2 weeks so that you too can be part of the solution.

Today as we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Winter Olympics, it is time for us at CTS to reflect on a key defining moment in our history as a company. Back in 2005 CTS beat out international competition to win the first of numerous contracts for VANOC, which was the organizing body for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Helping VANOC and their partner cities develop custom transport plans to move thousands of people by bus into and out of competition venues multip...le times in a day remains one of our most rewarding and challenging consulting assignments we have ever undertaken as a company. Not only was it unique and unlike anything we had done before, but it was also award winning for CTS as we won both engineering awards and being named the Small Business of the Year by the Tri Cities Chamber Commerce for our Olympic work. Attached are some of our key transportation pictures from the Winter Olympics including: running multiple midday West Coast Express special trains, no freight trains parked by the Seabus terminal due to security concerns, the new Canada Line, the demo Olympic Line modern streetcar between Granville Island and the new Canada Line, the permit system and temporary counterflow operation on Highway 99 for travel to and from Whistler and closure of key downtown streets to create a greatly expanded pedestrian network between venues. So honoured to have been selected by the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce, which represents over 950 businesses in Port Moody, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam, as the 2019 Business of the Year (11-30 employees)! Truly a great team effort by all our employees. Yippee!

So we just tallied up the number of transportation surveys that the CTS Data Group conducted for our municipal and private sector clients last year. Our running total since the year 1994 is now over 7500 intersection traffic counts and over 4100 road tube counts! That's a LOT of data!

A special thank you to the District of Summerland who recently visited our new Okanagan office unannounced and then promptly retained CTS to prepare traffic management plan drawings for their upcoming maintenance work on roadways.

Today’s random act of kindness . After hearing on CKNW radio this morning about a robbery at the Surrey Christmas Bureau where thieves made off with 3 brand new computers and over $6000 in gift cards, CTS stopped by over lunch today and donated $1500 for a replacement computer. This charity is one of BC’s largest charities helping low income families News Talk 980 CKNW

Here at CTS, we see nothing wrong at all with using a traffic cone as our tree topper ornament for our Christmas tree!!
