Happy National Volunteer Week! Last year we had a total of 274 volunteers that contributed to 5028.5 volunteer hours! During this pandemic we are so grateful f...or the volunteers that have offered support. They have dropped off meals and baked goods to our many group homes, made phone calls and reached out virtually to people we support to keep in touch. Our Council meetings are still running (virtually) and the literacy curriculum is being carefully planned for the Fall. We love our Volunteers! THANK YOU! #NVW2020 #CheersToVolunteers

Each week we ask our staff to nominate a co-worker for their extraordinary efforts during this time. At the end of the week we draw names to win a special prize.... Here are the 5 winners from last week: Maurizio Donatelli Maurizio's dedication for his job has been outstanding in these difficult times. He has been there everyday to open the building and ensured that any maintenance issue is timely addressed. He has been very flexible to handle different tasks such as reception, switchboard, mailings, deliveries, building operations and maintenance. We thank him for his great commitment to his work. Primrose Morgan Primrose comes in everyday with a bright smile on her face, willing to prepare the most delicious meals for the residents. She also will take the residents for a walk in the neighbourhood. One of the resident loves going to church, and she told him he can see it live, she went on and set it up for him, so he can watch and be part of the service. Daniel Lipski Dan has been deployed from Judson SWACA to Mill Road group home. At Mill Road, he helped a self advocate who has never used online communication to download it and communicate with his girlfriend and self advocates. Dan helped the self advocate to get connected - and that is what it’s all about during this time of social isolation! Bruno Simoes Bruno has been able to focus on other work-related tasks and at the same time provide information about this pandemic to all individuals in his care in a simple and caring manner. In addition he consistently practices good hygiene skills with those individuals. He will tell them to wash their hands before going out for walk and instructs them to play the " Don’t touch anything game once out. Now individuals tell each other if going out they must wash their hands. Everyone working together makes the load lighter. Rebecca Lynn-Rennick Many times, Rebecca has been a leader amongst the Etobicoke North York Leadership team. She has developed signs for her group homes and tools to make everyone's job a little more stress free. She has been a real motivator in a time of crisis and has jumped at sharing her tools with the team and other programs. Anything to bring our team to our utmost strength. Congratulations to Everyone! #WeApplaud #DevelopmentalServicesMatter #COVID19 #Toronto #ThankYou

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our lives in many ways. As the situation evolves, we must all adapt and do our best to plank the curve of infection ...and spread. To that end, Community Living Toronto is temporarily closing our respite programs for children and adults at the following sites: TREADD Respite Program Ennerdale Respite Program Lawson McMillan Wellesworth Dr Gilley Rd These sites will be closed from end of day Wednesday, March 25, 2020 to Tuesday, April 14, 2020. In addition to these measures, CLTO is also extending the closure of our day programs beyond our initial announcement of Friday, March 27, 2020. Our day programs will now remain closed until Tuesday, April 14, 2020. We hope to be able to open these programs sooner if the situation allows. Please monitor Community Living Toronto communications via email and social media for further updates. We recognize that this is a very difficult time for individuals in support and their families. While our physical sites are closed, we remain available to support families as needed through the crisis. Please contact the manager or supervisor responsible for your program if you need additional support. We will also be communicating frequently with resources for individuals and their families to help cope through this difficult time. Thank you for your continuing patience as we manage through the crisis.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close all day programs from Wednesday, March 18 to Friday, March 27. Thi...s decision is based on best advice from Public Health authorities regarding social distancing and avoiding large gatherings of people. We will do everything we can to support individuals and families during this difficult time. As of March 18, 2020 our Main offices will be closed. Access to our main offices will be limited to essential staff and deliveries until further notice. We are taking this step to ensure continuity of key corporate services and promote social distancing. Locations closed: Head Office (20 Spadina Rd) Central Regional Office (20 Spadina Rd) Etobicoke Regional Office (295 The West Mall, Suite 204) Scarborough Regional Office (1712 Ellesmere Rd) North York Regional Office (1122 Finch Ave W, Unit 18) Learn more about these closures and all other COVID-19 updates here: https://cltoronto.ca/covid-19-update/
