The Bulb Chronicles 10.11.2020

Chronicle 76 Café, conversations, and creative ideas with Fred Robbins, our Towns’ most excellent Historian and my ‘go to’ for haunted houses and inspiration. Anyone can recognize that curly moustache, it’s Fred! Fred Robbins! ... Fred, I said, what do you have for me? What’s going on? I’ve been MIA lately. Take a seat for a moment and fill my glass. Fred always looks at the glass as half full, never empty. His spirit and soul is so cheerful, giving and happy. He just looks serious because he’s a competitive athlete and trainer as we all know it! Fred, a big smirk and smile shares 6633 Main Street, The Yellow Brick House is for sale. The home belonged to Henry Dickson, blacksmith who bought the property circa 1875. The home stayed in the same family for over 100 years. Fred said he’s almost done his research and was in the neighbourhood to take some photos of the home. Story will unfold in the Stouffville Review where Fred writes his stories monthly. I looked over to my son and said, Max, I always learn something new from Fred, always. I betcha he’s going to teach us something today! Before I even finished my sentence, Fred shares ‘The power of ONE word’. Just think about the power ONE word can have. It can impact someone’s life! I looked at Fred, then at my son, then back at Fred, puzzled. Okay Fred. Such as? Fred said, ‘NOW’. I said ‘YES’. Fred said ‘SORRY’. I got it! He’s right! The Power of ONE word! Can you think of one word? Now think about the power it has. My take home lesson...Maybe we should stop overwhelming our kids with so much information, directions, long drawn annoying instructions and just keep it simple stupid. That’s the KISS rule. (K=Keep I=It S=Simple S=Stupid). And then seal it with a real kiss. So Max, do I have permission to post your photo? Max replies, What did Fred say? Fred said sure. Okay then. Approval to post. Our kids are little adults. I need to get consent before I put their little faces out there in the social media world. Something to be cognizant of. We don’t know the impact of posting photos of our children will have on them years to come. So did you find your ONE power word? GO! STOP! NEVER! LOVE! COFFEE! PLEASE!
