Canadians have contributed so much to the world: Peanut butter, basketball, walkie-talkies (which event profs can especially appreciate), the lightbulb and telephone, and medical advances such as the discovery of the stem cell and insulin! We are proud to be citizens of such a beautiful, diverse, and talented country. We acknowledge the history, spirituality, culture, and stewardship of the land of the Indigenous people of this region, Toronto. This land is the territory of the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River who are Anishnaabe Ojibwe peoples. Today, the meeting place of Toronto is still the home to many indigenous people from across Turtle Island.
