Proposed changes to Canada's Broadcasting Act would require broadcasters to fund Indigenous productions and also provide content in Indigenous languages.
Audio: The Eeyou Marine Region is off James and Hudson's Bays. The Cree and Inuit use the islands and waters for mostly harvesting activities. At this time, there are community consultations being planned about a Toolkit, that would be used to have organizations and Non Indigenous people apply to have access to the region. We talked with Isaac Voyageur, who is the Director of Environment and Remedial Works at the Cree Nation Government. We asked him about the Toolkit and what the Issues are at this time. Audio: Fred Sasakamoose was a pioneer in the NHL, where he played only 11 games with the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1950's, but opened the door for other Indigenous Players to follow in his footsteps. Reggie Leach played with the Philidelphia Flyers in the 70's and 80's, and his role model was Fred. He shared with us his fond memories of the man who exemplified kindness towards many he met over the years.
