Starting October 1, if you have extra garbage that won’t fit in your black cart, you’ll need to bag it, tag it & place it out for collection: 1 Fill your blac...k cart first. 2 Purchase garbage tags ($3 each) from a participating convenience or grocery store or online. 3 Put extra garbage in a bag and wrap the tag around the knot at the top of the bag. 4 Place the extra bag two feet from your black cart on collection day for pickup. The majority of households do not set out extra garbage bags on a regular basis. The garbage tag program is the first step towards greater fairness in our garbage fees. Households that properly sort waste into the blue and green carts will be less likely to need tags for extra garbage. We encourage you to look at what you’re buying and throwing away to find ways to reduce waste. Sorting materials correctly helps maximize the use of your blue, green and black carts and diverts material from the landfill. Visit calgary.ca/garbagetag for more information & to purchase tags online or visit a local Co-op or Circle K store.

Courtesy post for the HOA regarding spray park closure dates and fee payment: Good morning Crestmont Residents, Your HOA has appreciated your patience as we limped along in a modified spray park season, complying with AHS guidelines and the limitations that proposed. ... This season is now coming to a close, with cooler temperatures and back to school starting. Based on community turn out in recent cooler temperatures the last day for the Spray Park will be Friday September 4th. In anticipation of the 2021 year and knowing that the community has been used to being able to walk in to the hall to pay their HOA fees, I want to take this opportunity to recommend setting up access to the online Fee Portal, in advance of the fee collection season so that we may better serve you. If you haven’t yet been provided registration for the online Fee Portal please email me and include your home address and I can help set this up. The option to send in a cheque will always be there, for those who are not technically inclined.

The City of Calgary is currently running a number of engagement surveys that they are using to gather public feedback. These include a review of responsible pet ownership bylaws (this covers everything from licensing fines to urban chickens) and understanding customer behaviour around waste and recycling (Do you put out your carts because it is the scheduled collection day, part of a chore list, you received a City reminder or your cart is full?). You can complete these two ...surveys along with others by following the link below. https://engage.calgary.ca

Students in grades 4-12 and all school staff must wear masks as part of new school safety measures. Students and staff will receive 2 reusable masks from govern...ment. More than 1.6 million masks will be distributed to 740,000 students and 90,000 staff. Mask use will be mandatory for staff and teachers in all settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Students will be required to wear them in all shared and common areas such as in hallways and on buses. Exemptions will be made for students and staff who are unable to wear a mask due to medical or other needs. Mask use for kindergarten to grade three students will continue to be optional as mask use for younger children is a challenge due to difficulties with proper fit and compliance. Other health measures: Reusable face shields for school staff, to be used at their discretion in schools. Plastic face shields can help reduce exposure but are not equivalent to masks. A mask must still be worn while wearing a face shield. 466,000 litres of hand sanitizer will be distributed between all school authorities. Contactless thermometers will be provided to each school to help manage student and staff health. Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services are working hard to expand testing capacity and reduce turnaround times so anyone with symptoms or close contacts of cases can be rapidly tested and receive results promptly. All supplies will be distributed to school authorities before the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. Authorities will distribute to individual schools, staff and/or students based on the needs of their own communities. Learn more: https://www.alberta.ca/release.cfm

I know many residents have been wondering what businesses will be added to the retail space in the Partner’s Development of Crestmont West (Crestmont Village Shops). After speaking with the team at Partner’s Developments I can confirm that they have secured a dental clinic and a wine and spirits store. They are also in the process of securing a nail salon/spa. I had mentioned that residents would be interested in completing a survey around the kind of businesses that they wo...uld like to see go into the space. They also said that they would be happy to review a survey from residents once it was completed, and acknowledged that boutique retail developments like the one going into Crestmont have such close ties to the community. As a result, they do try to attract businesses that will benefit the community as a whole. Attached is the link to the survey for Crestmont residents to complete. Results will be shared with the team at Partner’s Development one week from today (August 5th). https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/P335CWJ

For those who may not have seen the email this morning from Amber Johnson (Property Manager at Rancho): Sorry for the delays in opening the spray park we were experiencing water pressure issues, as items were found lodged in the water lines. We are hoping to be able to open the spray park tomorrow, but appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issues. Fingers crossed!

Crestmont Community Association 10.11.2019

Please note that the spray park is not open at the moment. They are currently dealing with water pressure issues from what appears to be vandalism. Residents can expect more communication from Rancho in the next few days.

Just a heads up if anyone plans to visit the playground in Crestmont West today, the slides are quite hot! You may want to do a temperature check before letting your little ones on them.

Wahoo! The HOA sent out an email this morning confirming that the splash park will be open starting Saturday July 25th, 7 days a week from 10am to 9 pm (weather permitting). There are changes to how the Spray Park can operate this season that AHS has mandated, and the HOA has worked alongside them to put the following plan into place: ... The Hall washrooms/change rooms will not be open to the public. Sorry for any inconvenience. The Spray Park will have a Sign in Table where Picture ID is required to confirm you are a Crestmont Resident, and to keep a record of who has used the facility. There is a fence around the Spray Park to control the entry point, along with having people sign in. This fence does restrict some of the seating spaces on the grass areas. As benches are sparse and use at your own risk in regards to COVID-19, we recommend bringing lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. DO NOT COME if you are feeling unwell, show any symptom of COVID 19 and let’s make the most of this short season! The email also shared that the fountain in the storm ponds is now being installed after a number of setbacks from heavy rains and Enmax working in the area!
