Creston Masonry 30.01.2021

Hi friends! In my first post I showed you cultured stone. Which is actually manufactured light weight concrete made to look like stone. In my second post I showed you real stone veneer, which is as described. It's real stone that's been cut to about an inch thick. It falls into the weight category that doesn't require a footing and foundation to support the weight. This post is real stone - Old school stone masonry. All local stone. The first is stone picked up off of the beach at Boswell. Second is flagstone from Yak, third is dolomite from Sirdar, fourth is stones picked from the hills above Boswell. The fireplace hearth is flagstone with a live edge, softened corners and a velvet sealer for ease of cleaning picked up from Hidden Valley. Real stone is the hardest and heaviest to work with but 100% natural beauty with no expiry date.

Hey everyone check this out! This boulder weighs 15,000 lbs. It was too heavy for the crane to lift it so he dragged it right beside the crane deck so he could lift it enough to get a trailer under it. It's the cenotaph for the Lower Kootenay band. We moved it to it's new location which was a very interesting trip. We placed it on concrete blocks and then poured concrete under and around it. I rock textured the surface and freehanded flagstone shapes into the wet concrete. I made stamps of their logo, sturgeon nosed canoe and eagle staffs and pressed them into the concrete. Yesterday morning I finished the eco stains and today I got the sealer on. Woo hoo! What a project to have done. They haven't seen the finished job yet. I hope they like it. What do you think?

Hello friends, these are a few pictures of real stone veneer masonry that I've done. It's actual stone that is cut into thin strips and is purchased by the pallet. Putting them together is like a puzzle. I have to figure out which stones would look best and then I place them. The first picture is my favorite. Which one is yours?
