When we were able to engage men and do a little bit of work to reduce their risk, we were able to cut re-offending rates in half over two years. The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) is teaming up with researchers from Western University and the University of Toronto to launch a country-wide survey about the impact of sexual harassment and violence in the workplace. The online survey will be open to anyone in a Canadian workplace for the next six months, said Barb MacQuarrie, the community director of Western University's Centre for Research and Education on Violence against Women and Children. "We're going all across Canada and we really want to hear from workers in every sector, every position, every identity. We want to get as clear a picture as we can about what's happening in workplace harassment all across the country," MacQuarrie said.

Today is International Equal Pay Day, dedicated to advocating for equal pay for work of equal value regardless of gender identity or expression. Advancing gende...r equality is not just good for women, it is good for all Canadians. That is why in 2018, passed the Pay Equity Act to help reduce wage gaps that affect women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities and visible minorities. In 2017, women earned 88 cents for every dollar earned by men a 6 cent increase since 1997. We have lessened the pay gap, and are gaining momentum. Let’s continue to work for parity! #EqualPayDay

The police will always be the first called in a crisis, but it only makes sense to have social workers, psychologists and other clinicians on hand quickly to help, Jaffe said. The word consultant is critical. We weren’t there to do the work of police. We were there to support the work of police, he says. It was a cutting-edge program. London was the only city in Canada that had a program like that at the time.
