ECCC’s Division 2 campaign ends with 4 victories in HCL’20. It has been a challenging season for our Div 2 in HCL and certainly the bar has been raised in comparison to previous editions. Our Division 2 squad gave their best effort throughout the season but were only able to manage few but amazing victories. Re-energized Div 2 squad would be looking forward to competing in the next edition of HCL with everything to prove. Our August Player of The Month It has been a challenging month for ECCC in both the divisions as the HCL’20 is at it’s tail end. Every game for the club is crucial to make it to the playoffs. ECCC players grabbed every available opportunity and displayed their potential by winning important games. We are very proud to announce that our player of the month for August is Kishan Patel for his exceptional contribution in both the divisions. Kishan proved to be a versatile batsman along with his exceptional bowling and fielding. We congratulate Kishan for his amazing contribution and looking forward to see him display his skills in the upcoming games and celebrating the victories in his unique style. After a long draught, ECCC Division 1 boys bagged a win against the Halifax Titans Cricket Club. This victory puts ECCC Div 1 on the third spot with one game lead against Nova Scotia Avengers Cricket Club. The boys were missing their 6 best players as they were on provincial duty. After winning the toss, ECCC choose to bat first. Priyank Shah and Kishan Patel opened the innings and rolled the scoreboard along for 63 runs with no loss. Kishan scored 31 runs of 19 balls and Pri...yank scored 53 runs of 48. Tushar Sehgal’s cameo of 27 runs in just 11 balls helped ECCC to end their innings with 174 on board. Tushar was supported by Vishal Patel and Sanjeev Tagra who made noteworthy contributions. In the 2nd innings, bowlers regulated the run rate and kept the opposition in check. Mahmud Billah Ratul picked up 3 crucial wickets in 4 overs conceding 21 runs, While Kishan patel and Sanjeev Tagra picked up 2 wickets each. The bowlers were supported by fielders who took some amazing catches. ECCC hoping to carry the momentum in the Division 2 game against Titans, unfortunately did not have favourable results, but our Division 2 boys put up a good fight. Som Tripathi played a blistering knock of 95 runs (11 fours, 3 six) in just 58 balls. Priyank Shah and Sanjeev Tagra supported with contributions of 33 runs and 31 runs respectively. ECCC set a target of 179 runs for the Titans. However the Titans chased down the total in the last over. Our Bowlers Kishan Patel bagged 4 wickets while Ataul picked up 1 wicket. ECCC Div 1 played their first 40 over match on Saturday, 8th August 2020 vs the Halifax Titans. ECCC lost the match by 135 runs. Titans choosing to bat first amassed a total 262/9 in 40 overs with valuable contributions from Hardeep, Santosh, and Nandu. Kishan Patel was the pick of the bowlers for ECCC with 2 wickets and an economy rate of 5.7. Mayank and Tushar Sehgal contributed with 2 wickets each. In the 2nd innings, ECCC didn’t get an ideal start and lost 3 quick wicket...s within the first 7 overs. ECCC lost wickets at regular intervals and ended up all out for 127 in just over 25 overs. ECCC Division 2 boys had their first victory of the season against Halifax Cannons last weekend. ECCC won the game by 92 runs and bowled out Halifax Cannons (88/10 - 15.1 overs). After being asked to bat first, ECCC opening batsman Khurram Aziz provided a steady start to the innings by contributing 23 runs, however wickets kept falling at the other end. Under pressure, allrounders Vishal Patel and Mayank Singh built a partnership of over 100 runs in which Vishal Patel played... an explosive innings of 81* runs in 53 balls (Fours - 5, Six - 5) and was supported by Mayank Singh (24* runs). ECCC scored 180/5 in 20 overs. ECCC bowlers were outstanding and with the support from fielders, Halifax Cannons were bowled out for 88 runs. The bowlers gained momentum by picking up early wickets which helped us to be in the driver’s seat. Mayank Singh bagged 3 wickets while Vishal Patel and Kashyap picked up 2 wickets each. In summary, it was an engaging game with light banter delivered by both sides. ECCC Division 2 will be looking forward to carrying the momentum and energy in thier next game against Halifax Cannons on Sunday. ECCC Division 1 team registered their two back to back wins in HCL’20. Our Division 1 boys won their first game against Halifax Titans by successfully chasing a total of 144 runs in which Neel Patel played a blistering knock of 72 runs (3 fours, 5 sixes) in 42 balls. Neel was supported by Konark Bararia who scored 23 runs. Finishing touch to the game was provided by Arun Nag. Our bowlers did a pretty decent job by restricting the Titans below 150. Debutant Mandeep Girdhar con...ceded 16 runs in his spell of 4 overs and bagged 1 wicket while Tushar Sehgal and Kishan Patel bagged 2 wickets each. In the encounter against Nova Scotia Avengers Cricket Club last weekend, Our Division 1 boys registered their second consecutive victory. After being asked to bat first, ECCC put a total of 158 runs on the board in which Amit Joshi played an outstanding knock of 71 runs (7 fours, 4 sixes) of 63 balls. Amit Joshi was supported by Neel Patel (23 runs) and Arun Nag (25 Runs). Our bowlers were exceptional and were backed by fielders which helped the team to pick up some early crucial wickets. Avengers lost half their team in the first 5 overs of the game, adding just 18 runs on board. Mayank Shekhar Singh picked up 4 wickets. Early breakthroughs were provided by Vishal Patel and Arun Nag. Winning games is turning into a habit and pushing players to deliver such amazing victories. Our Division 2 boys on the other hand had a tough time on the field after losing their first game against Halifax Titans in which Tapan Katwala contributed 32 runs. In their first encounter against Nova Scotia Avengers, a noteworthy contribution was made by Som Tripathi (42 runs of 31 balls) and Vishal Patel (32 runs). The Defending Champions (ECCC) lost their season opener against Halifax Cannons in a low scoring game. ECCC won the toss and elected to bat. Cannons were asked to chase total of 122 runs to clinch their first victory. Bowlers did a great job to contain runs and picked couple of early wickets which helped us to put pressure back on Cannons. However Cannons chased the total in 19th over after a close encounter. Our Division 1 boys will bounce back stronger.

ECCC had it’s first exhibition game against Halifax Cannons last weekend. New and returning players had an amazing socially distant team bonding session as well as had an opportunity to have some game time prior to the regular season. This was possible due to the tremendous efforts by NSCA, HRM, Sports NS, and NS Government in developing safe Return to Play protocols. With HCL officially commencing this weekend, the defending champions of Division 1 HCL - (ECCC) will be up against Halifax Cannons. Our boys are looking forward to kick start the season on a winning note in both Divisions. We thank NSCA for their hardwork in these unprecedented times. Here’s the squad for the 2nd Finals. ECCC will be looking forward to seal the championship. Titans are well know to bounce back, it’s gonna be a thriller.

ECCC, Division 1 boys won the 1st Final of the hcl’19 in dramatic fashion taking a 1-0 lead in the best of 3 finals. ECCC were asked to bat first and had a slow start as titans bowlers tested our patience in their opening spell in which ECCC also lost a quick wicket. Our batsmen eventually started scoring quick runs in the following overs. Amit supported Neel Patel to build a steady partnership. Neel scored 50 runs in 30 balls and Arun scoring 35 runs a...t a steady pace provided ECCC with a fighting total of 152 against the mighty Titans. In the second innings, Titans started with all guns blazing in the powerplay and carried their momentum to score 90 runs in 11 overs. Fortunately Titans were restricted to a total of 132 with excellent ground fielding and outstanding bowling performance by Amit, Mayank and Neel. Daksh and Arun kept the run rate in check during the middle overs to put the Titans batsmen under pressure. ECCC would be looking to seal their championship run on Saturday. #onewinaway

After Halifax Titans Cricket Club loosing to Nova Scotia Avengers Cricket Club and ECCC defeating Halifax Cricket Club in the previous games, ECCC has secured their spot in the Division 1 Finals of HCL’19. ECCC will be playing against the mighty Avengers, our boys are determined to continue their victory run and get a comprehensive win against Avengers to set the stage for The Finals.

With a win on Sunday against Halifax Cricket Club , Div 1 East Coast CC has qualified for the finals of the Halifax Cricket League. East Coast CC will play the winner of Eliminator game in the best of 3 finals slated to begin on September 29th. The eliminator game will take place on September 28th at 3:30 PM. Halifax Titans CC will play the eliminator game against Nova Scotia Avengers Cricket Club/ Halifax Cricket Club. With a loss in Div 2 encounter against Halifax CC on Saturday, East Coast CC will now face against NS Avengers CC in a must win encounter on Sunday, September 22nd. A win will ensure a playoff spot for the Div 2 team who currently sits at the bottom of the table.
