Online applications to sponsor family immigrants hits limit in less than 11 minutes Many people upset with the process It took just minutes today for people to snap up 27,000 online application spots for bringing parents or grandparents into the country fueling frustration and fury among people who say the new system is flawed and unfair. At noon ET today, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada opened up to applicants its online form for indicating interest in spons...oring a family member through the 2019 Parent and Grandparent Program. Just eleven minutes later, the department tweeted that the applications received had met the annual limit and the form had been closed to new applicants. A flood of angry complaints followed from frustrated would-be applicants, many of whom said they had cleared their schedules and set up their computers to fill out the online form only to find it shut down within minutes. "This is not a concert ticket you are selling, this is about uniting families. The whole process is atrocious," wrote Naimul Khan on Twitter. Some called for an independent audit of IRCC's sponsorship process. What changes will be in the future of this sponsorship? Hopefully one that makes it fair for many to have the opportunity to join with their loved ones in Canada.

Why Did My Canadian Immigration Application Get Refused? Don't panic - Get help! Generally, refusals for Canadian immigration applications do not just happen. When applications for Canadian immigration are submitted, an immigration officer reviews the application and decides on whether it should be approved or denied. The officer uses specific guidelines for making decisions on immigration cases. These guidelines are found in the Immigration Regulations as well as Immigration... Manuals. When applications do not meet the various standards and criteria set out in the Immigration Regulations and Manuals, then the likely result is a refusal. However, in many cases, Canadian immigration officers make mistakes in their decisions. They often are too strict in their interpretation of the guidelines or they simply fail to review all the documentation and information in an application. Sometimes applicants are called for a personal interview and the immigration officer does not believe the applicant is credible or trustworthy. Whatever the reason for the refusal, it is important to act very quickly once you are notified that your case was denied. You should then seek out a qualified and experienced Canadian immigration consultant or lawyer who is licensed. If your case has merit, then an Immigration Appeal should be considered.

New format for the Canada’s Parents and Grandparent Sponsorship Program - Update 2019 In 2018, the IRCC announced they will be reopening the Parents and Grandparent Sponsorship Program in 2019. In the previous years this program would open on January 2nd. This is not the case in 2019. The IRCC tweeted that they will not be opening the program until late January 2019. The IRCC expects to process up to 20,000 applications through the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) in 20...19. This program is a first-come, first-served basis where the first 20,000 eligible sponsors who submit an Interest to Sponsor form will be issued an invitation to apply. Using this modified intake process will give the government more flexibility in the application process, ensuring that we receive as many applications as possible, IRCC said.
