Cross and Arrow Beauty

I have been called to take a minimum two week fast from social media. . We are beings of connection. We crave and long for true, meaningful, lasting connection...s. Iron sharpens iron and we are CALLED to love one another as neighbour's. So, I believed until now, that scrolling through social media is a must. I must connect. It's all of my friends. Its connecting me to family. It's inspiring, or funny, or thought provoking... depending on the scroll. It helps me get my story out to help others, and allows me to pull strength from others . I'm just going to be honest The Social Dilemma changed my beliefs about all that. Honestly, I had been putting off watching the documentary for a long time, but its been heavy on my mind for a while. I had a post on FB that went viral a few weeks ago. And it awoke a spine chilling reality that I haven't been able to shake ever since... I'm being watched. And if the hairs stand up on the back of my neck when I think of that many people seeing my posts, why am I not worried about the SOURCE I am using it to post on? . For the first time in a long time, I realized how much I put into these apps. My authentic truths. My kids. My life. My beliefs. My successes. My failures. My lessons. And I'm so HONEST y'all. Authenticity is my code... but damn, should it be? Considering the "tool" I'm using is actually using me? . I have a lot of thoughts on it. One that I was in denial about it before. I now have anxieties about the amount my phone dings. I'm alllllllways on my phone. For my business. For Joe and I's electrical business. For posts about EVERYTHING. Trying to connect, yet still... disconnecting. I see it now. . And so, I have made the choice to erase social media. For two weeks: I need to not be addicted to the notifications. I need a gratification break. My ego needs a reality check. I need to feed my SOUL with family, faith and friends. Stop trying to capture the moment so much for all of you that I'm not in it anymore. . .WOW, right? . I challenge you, if you've made it this far into the post... watch the documentary.
