Crossfield books have arrived at the Fitzhenry Whiteside Warehouse. Today, it's time for me to move boxes instead of open them. Plus, one should never forget how one got there, finally. It's a special day for us and our authors, with many thanks to my biz partner who took a day off to drive.

Great review in TMR

The setting of Old Broad Road is Chapel’s Cove and I was only familiar with this particular area through research. After the final draft, I returned to Newfound...land to visit Chapel’s Cove for the first time. I couldn’t believe that I was actually standing on Sylvia Kramer’s beach. It was a MOMENT. read the complete interview here at Open Book http://open-book.ca//I-Couldn-t-Type-Fast-Enough-Phyllis-L

August is winding down, and the stiff breezes off the eastern coast of NB tell me that fall is slowly creeping back. What better way to curl into autumn than with a new book; Introducing "Old Broad Road", by Phyllis L Humby. This Contemporary/Realistic novel will introduce you to the beauty that is Newfoundland, all the while glancing cautiously over your shoulder. Release is set for Oct. Stay tuned.

Hello everyone. Like most of my sculptures, my latest piece entitled, On the Trail, has a story, as it isn’t fresh off the studio table. It is a unique and ve...ry timely sculpture, as it was commissioned by twin sisters who are both registered nurses working at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario for the past 17 years. I completed the sculpture back in April when it was unsafe to deliver anything to the home of a front-line worker. We waited for months, and today was the day that we decided that it was safe to be masked up and deliver it to their home. They supplied this slice of log, (that is referred to as a cookie) and after some consultation, let me work my own magic with the granite and glass to commemorate the many hikes that they have enjoyed over the years in Ontario parks, complete with their canine friend Fritz. I must say it was a challenge, but an enjoyable one, to combine the wood and stone elements in a way that it physically and visually worked together. I would like to dedicate this piece not only to these two strong women, but also to all of their colleagues in the medical field who have worked tirelessly to get us to the safer place we now enjoy. It is up to us to honour them by staying vigilant and safe in order to avoid putting renewed stress back on their shoulders. In closing, I would like to thank you for your kind comments about my book, Reflections in Glass and Stone, and your anticipation of its launch on August 1st. I received quite an unexpected honour yesterday when the President of the American Glass Guild contacted me, and said that they had seen the chatter about the book Online and wanted to feature it and my work on their Facebook page. Today that came true, and I received this link to their site. I don’t know if anything will come of this, but it’s nice to be recognized in another country by other artists who also work with glass. https://www.facebook.com/pg/AmericanGlassGuild/posts/?ref=page_internal Stay safe, continue to respect frontline workers, as well as everyone else that you meet, as we move and adjust to the next phase of recovery. The next time that you do get out for a hike in your favourite local, provincial, or state park, be sure to enjoy yourself on the trail. Its description follows. ON THE TRAIL Names such as Inverhuron, Arrowhead, Grundy, Killarney, and Algonquin beckon those who truly come alive in their presence. Rustling leaves, filtered light, and water’s shimmer, draw us to their paths of peace and rejuvenation. Cradled in the rugged arms of the stately pine, maple, and birch, we pause on granite shores, with our faithful canine companion, and reflect on times past. Leaves wave and flutter in the freshness, twigs snap, and the forest floor cushions our every step as we welcome each crest and bend on our path. We are complete and fulfilled in this unspoiled landscape, and truly come alive as we give thanks for all of nature’s gifts on the trail.

We had a very successful and memorable day at ZenfirePottery, launching Peter Allan Rice's book - Reflections in Glass and Stone . The weather was perfect and most folks left with a book and a coupon for an icecream at the local dairy (Hearn's). Here is a clip from the launch for you to enjoy. https://youtu.be/JC2Z0i5-1sA
