Eating a variety of different coloured fruits and veggies throughout the day will help ensure we are getting a wide range of different micronutrients in our diet. Pictured are 2 of my favorites- roasted carrots and snap peas.

Are you drinking enough water? I like to encourage my clients to drink at least 1 ounce per pounds of body weight. Water has so many healthy benefits! It can help prevent bloating and constipation, flush out excess sodium from highly processed foods, improves skin health and helps regulate body temperature.

Ideally weight your food raw before cooking, particularly meat. The weight can drastically change during the cooking process so raw is preferred. Double check the entry you select in MFP. Anyone can create a meal/food in MFP so ensure the item you select makes sense and is accurate. When searching a particular food item in MFP look for ones with a green check mark. These tend to be more accurate. When starting out, keep it simple! It’s much easier to track simple meals than something like a casserole. Having your protein, carbs and fat separated on your plate will allow you to more easily track and weigh those individual items.

Do you find veggies can get boring? I like to switch it up and make vegetable skewers on the BBQ. Something different like this is much more appealing to my kids and they are more likely to consume these then regular steamed veggies.
