Warm weather means it's pen scraping time again! We do this several times throughout the winter to stay on top of spring clean up and for the overall health of the equine in our care There's always something to be done!

Felt like -42C here today Broodmares enjoyed some warm beet pulp and oats along with alfalfa square bales to shake any chance of a chill . They have 24/7 round bale hay and oat straw but no chances taken when the temp drops this drastically overnight! Not long until our first foals start hitting the ground

*sound on* Here is another poor cell phone quality update on Lil Docsan Player aka Player. I just had to share this because my husband is also such a huge part of what makes Crosshair Springs all that it is. He puts a lot of time and effort into our herd and program which mainly go on behind the scenes . This video just shows the other half of us that doesn't get near enough credit! Also, he sweet talks the horses as you can hear him calling Player "baby" in the video . We're so blessed to share this crazy dream and passion for equine! Without it we wouldn't be able to produce the foals and horses we do!

Lil Docsan Player aka Player. I realized we haven't posted an update on her in quite a while! These photos aren't the least bit flattering and probably the lowest quality cell photos in the modern world but they're something . Player is believed to have slipped her 2021 Crosshairs Open Season foal so we're prepping her for 2021 mountain trips! None of our broodmares are solely broodmares. All are broke to ride, drive, and pack or at least one of the three. When they aren...'t producing our dream foals they're filling our hearts with joy! I LOVE being able to pull any of my mares from pasture and work them! Player hasn't had a saddle on in over a year and never had a pack saddle on - she was perfect All of our mares are set to be re-preg checked January 16th. I like to recheck about around 90 days out from foaling season just to make sure all is well. All mares are initially confirmed at 14 days and again at 30 days.
