What is Torticollis? Torticollis is a condition in which the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle is tight or shortened on one side of the neck. It typically appears within the first 3 months of infancy. As a result, your baby will tilt their head to one side and rotate towards the other. While this condition can result from a truly shortened muscle, often times it is a positional preference. Simply put, your baby may feel more comfortable and prefer to look one way more... than the other. Regardless of the cause, it is beneficial to have your child visit a Physiotherapist to stretch this muscle and provide some tips and tricks to get your baby comfortable moving their head in all directions! Additionally, our Physiotherapist will monitor and help prevent any secondary changes that may result from this condition. Call the clinic today! See more

Please consider donating to friend of the clinic, Ryan Dark’s #movember page. See the comments for my weak attempt at growing my own moustache. It’s for a good cause though, and my wife seems to like it so maybe I will grow it all year in preparation for next year!

10 YEARS! Today marks 10 years since graduation day from physio school! It has been an incredible journey and I’m looking forward to what’s up ahead. I’m not sure what I expected things to be like at 10 years when I started out as I was never a 5 or 10 year plan kind of guy. When I first started I was commonly thinking:... fake it till you make it is that restricted? Or unstable? Am I even on the right joint I’ll look that up when I get home how do my colleagues have all the answers? As I settled in, I realized I actually knew a thing or two and ALL physios are constantly learning and improving. Life long learning is a real thing! My goals became more clear. I wanted to become a better physiotherapist for my patients, I wanted to learn more about the profession, and I wanted to carve out my own path (whatever that might be). As I reflect on 10 years of practice, there are so many ways to progress as a therapist: Private practice Home Care School health FCAMPT Sports Physiotherapy Clinic Owner Mentor I can’t express how thankful I am for the people who helped me through these experiences and get me to where I am today. I am so blessed and lucky. I know there is a lot of work left to do, places to go, and people to see, but I am happy and grateful to be surrounded by an amazing group of family, friends, co workers and patients. See more

TAPING Taping can help unload sensitive and irritated muscles and joints. This can provide some temporary relief of pain and allow you to do the things you need to do on a daily basis and the exercises you need to do to overcome the injury. There are many different taping techniques and various situations to incorporate it into treatment. Ask your physio if taping will help you! Have you ever had tape help you move and feel better?
