Claresholm fish and wildlife officers are seeking information regarding an antlered mule deer that was shot and left on East Sharples Road in the Porcupine Hill...s Public Land Use Zone. On November 5, 2020, officers received a report from a witness who was in the area around 5:50 pm when they heard a rifle shot nearby. Concerned because legal shooting ended at 5:30 pm that day, the witness drove toward the sound of the gunshot and saw a newer, dark-coloured SUV (believed to be a Tahoe or Yukon) parked on the road. The witness saw two people standing outside the SUV, which had a burnt-out tail light on the driver’s side, before getting into it and fleeing the scene. The witness drove to the spot where the SUV was parked and saw a recently-killed antlered mule deer lying in the ditch. Anyone with information that may help solve this case is asked to call the 24-hour Report A Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800 or send information through the Report A Poacher web page at https://www.alberta.ca/report-a-poacher.aspx Anyone reporting information by phone or through the web can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.

Press Release COVID-19 Update Province’s Announcement of Enhanced Measures November 12, 2020 - For Immediate Release The additional restrictions just anno...unced by the province today, once again apply only to the communities that have reached over 50 cases per 100,000 people (previously called Watch Status). As the Crowsnest Pass currently is back down to zero cases, these additional restrictions do not yet apply to the Crowsnest Pass. 50 cases per 100,000 population would equal four (4) active cases in the Crowsnest Pass. We encourage all residents to continue to follow the appropriate precautions and safety measures in place, especially when travelling to other communities. Please be aware that there are several communities in Southern Alberta that are now under the additional restrictions; make sure you know what measures are in place before you go. If there is a change in the status of the Municipality, we will notify residents as quickly as possible. You can also sign up for the COVID-19 status notification subscription to receive an alert if our community were to cross the 50 per 100,000 population threshold at https://www.alberta.ca/covid-19-status-notification.aspx. For up-to-date information about COVID-19 in Alberta including the new enhanced restrictions in place for some communities and metropolitan areas, please visit Government of Alberta’s website at www.alberta.ca/coronavirus The following measures remain in place for the Crowsnest Pass: Gathering restrictions: o 200 people max for outdoor audience-type community events o 100 people max for outdoor social gatherings and indoor seated audience events o 50 people max for indoor social gatherings o No cap for worship gatherings, restaurant, cafes, lounges and bars, casinos and bingo halls, trade shows and exhibits (with public health measures in place) Activities Not Permitted: o gatherings larger than permitted o major festivals and concerts, large conferences and events o major sporting events and tournaments with attendees in audience o amusement parks o nightclubs High-risk Activities: Activities that carry this risk are not recommended, even with physical distancing in place, including: o sharing food, drinks or utensils o sharing equipment o close-range conversations o direct physical contact or touch with people outside of your household The most powerful measures we can take to reduce the spread of COVID-19 are to: Practice physical distancing by staying at least 2 meters away from others outside your home/cohort family If you can’t maintain physical distancing, wear a mask If you are ill, please stay home and call 811 or contact your doctor Wash your hands frequently, especially before and after entering a building or using a facility and every time you go back home Avoid touching your face Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow Keep your cohort group to a maximum of 15 people Stay safe, stay healthy! We are all in this together!
