A little update on this raining day. Last week I was finally able to get some time to frame up the new doors and get them on the barn just need the barn tin on them but even without the tin the barn is a whole different place now. We are currently working on finishing the electrical work and unfortunately the main power line as well as our water line may have to wait until spring as we will need to dig some big trenches to finish everything. ... In the meantime we cleaned out our ram pen last week and reorganized that side of the barn to allow for extra feed storage and room for another pen to be put up. We have went through and gotten all of our supplies ready for the start of lambing and our girls are comfortable and we are patiently waiting lambs which will be hopefully starting around feb 20. On one last note we are currently looking at expanding in a month or so with a more commercial and maternal breed of sheep. We will be able to push up towards 65 ewes with lambs at their side with this barn (unless we take our equipment and hay/straw out of the barn and relocate elsewhere). I could go into depth about this however this is another topic for an entire conversation itself. And ps: I still need a man door on the back of the barn I know

We would like to apologize for not posting in awhile or checking on things we have been overwhelming busy with our little girl and with my business ontop of all our farm stuff. We have been having coyote problems on our new farm and have lost majority of our chickens thus one reason we have been mia on the egg sales for this we apologize. Our meat chickens because of how busy we have been did not have time this year we have spent many hours working on getting the barn and t...he whole property up to par! We still have much more work to do before we can continue on, moving an entire farm and getting everything back to normal is beyond a simple task. We have had a rough couple years with our sheep we had our main ram die which was an undetermined death we lost 1 sheep die to poisonous shrub to them we lost 1 due to very old age and lost one right before the move which we believe was from grain overload this one was our fault as we have been dealing with a nutrition issue the past year or so. We ended up getting our hay tested and ended up being our big problem the farmer said it was great hay the sheep were eating all of it so we never thought twice until I noticed body conditions getting slowly worse. Our hay tested for the lowest amount of protein I have ever seen in hay basically our bedding was more nutritious. So we stopped buying that garbage and have since then with the proper amounts of grain and good hay worked our way back from this. We held the girls back from being bred this year until fall this was a major farm decision as it means no lambs for Christmas no lamb income yet again and another deficit year for the sheep. Last time we didn’t get our ram until the start of summer which was out of season for them but we were desperate to get some lambs, in hind sight we will never do that again as it hurt us more then waiting unTIL fall would have. We had kept all 3 ram lambs from our first ram who passed away only to keep his amazing genetics around we were given another ram from the same farmer which we were very appreciative. So now it’s that time of year we finally had the shearer get here after trying to get one all year. My sister was amazing and volunteered to help me tackle trimming all the hooves which isn’t an easy job for this I was extremely grateful. Although she will most likely never help with that again haha. It is now optimal breeding season all the sheep are in top top shape (something we have worked very hard at) the boys are rearing to go. so hopefully we will have an amazing lambing season next year. We will run our meat chickens again and we will be back in egg production. But for now it’s one farm day at a time we are still learning everyday and we appreciate the love and support as well as patients from everyone. Thanks again from our family to yours

It been awhile but with the Snow season here and the big move along with getting the new barn up in working order its been a long tiring process and we apologize for not many updates.. The barn was a mess no water or hydro we have since put in temporary hydro (to run a few lights and heaters) and well either a really long hose from the house or buckets of water for now until spring when we run water lines out. next step is the doors, adding grain bins for storage and possibly... some concrete later on but for now we will see how the gravel floor works at least its much better then what was there and it stays dry! today i finished adding the second feeder but my measurements are a little off so i couldn't make a nice straight pen today we have it set up so when we bring in some more sheep we can divide this pen into 2 allowing us to separate them. then along the back we have room for our ram pen and our replacement lambs also once we have more lambs there will be space to add our lamb pen on that whole side of the barn and still keep our hay storage in the middle for now. Still lots to do and we will try our best to keep everyone updated. Thanks See more
