We pushed for as long as we could. Being a husband and wife team has been a gift. Having multiple accessible sinks throughout our shop has been beautiful as well. Jeremy and I often got obsessive reminders from each other, Wash your hands! Wash your hands! Wash your hands! Add in an obsessive amount of scrubbing and sanitizing, we were good. Our protocols and setup met the WorkSafe and Restaurant Association recommendations. We were confident with our protocol. Our customer...s have commented time and time again how comfortable they feel dining with us. Up until today, we hadn’t been wearing masks. Numbers in the Valley stayed stagnant for a long time. We were comfortable not wearing them. Many of you were comfortable not wearing them also. Until recently. We saw more and more of our customers coming in with masks and we highly appreciated and respected you for it! However, the time has come when public health, community reputation, and financial liability outweigh our individual personal stubbornness. The numbers in Sparwood, while still low, have moved from where they were in the spring. We don’t know where they’re going. But until we do, Jeremy and I will be masking up commencing immediately and looking at the positives: COVID aside, we’ll also appreciate being less susceptible to sharing the common cold and flu. Those who said they really want to dine in or grab'n'go at Crumbs can now with confidence. We make wearing masks look pretty darn good The service will still be amazing. The food equally impressive in quality and flavour. The atmosphere warm and calming. We promise. Thanks for trusting us. We appreciate your business more than you could ever know! Amy & Jeremy

Christmas Platter Feature: The Confetti Square. I remember the first time I had a confetti square. I was 20 years old. My great grandmother had died and we traveled to Saskatchewan for her funeral. We stayed with my Aunt where people brought platter after platter of delicious food and treats. ... On one of the treat platters were these fruity marshmallow squares. I was a little weirded out... cause who actually eats fruity marshmallows??? Someone (I don't remember who it was) at my Aunt's picked one up and proclaimed how amazing they were and proceeded to shove the entire square in their mouth and walked away. I decided to try a little bite and I was taken aback. "WHAT IS THIS?!?!I", I wondered as I tried to decipher the delectable flavours melting in my mouth. I asked around the house but no one seemed to know what the recipe was, much less the name of them. I wound up eating all of that particular square on the tray that day. #oopsie For a long time, I spent hours scouring cookbooks I came across in search of this recipe. I would ask anyone I knew who I thought might possibly have the recipe. Back then, recipes on the internet really weren't a big thing. I came across the recipe many years later (When I wasn't looking for it, of course!) and rushed to the grocery store to buy the ingredients. I ate nearly the entire pan that evening. They were just as delicious and even more addicting than I had remembered them to be! These were an obvious must-have for Crumbs when I was first creating our store menu nearly six years ago. To me, they're sweet little reminders of how important family is during difficult times. We were so honored to be able to provide hot lunches for our local seniors on Monday in coordination with The Community Response Network (CRN). This is an initiative that means a lot to me after having been a paramedic and seeing self-neglect first hand in our community. The CRN works to create a coordinated community response to abuse, neglect and self neglect of vulnerable adults. Each week for six weeks, you will be given a new challenge, optional recipe to use, and a cooking tip from Amy Cardozo, owner of Crumbs Cakery & Café in Sparwood. Each week is meant to build upon the skills you learned in the previous week's challenge and help build your confidence in the kitchen. ... Let's get this party started!!!! WEEK ONE (make sure to read to the end before you start!) How it works: 1. Make a batch of SPOOKY Hors D'oeuvres before November 1st. You can get creative and use any recipe you fancy or try this one if you're feeling unsure: https://pin.it/xFUBcoT 2. Snap a pic of your creation to share on social media. Try to use natural lighting from a window or take your photo sesh outside for best results. Get creative! 3. EMAIL your photo to [email protected] before NOON on November 1st. Late entries will NOT be accepted. 4. We will choose a winner on November 1st to receive a $25 gift certificate from Crumbs Cakery. 5. Join us again next week! New challenges will be announced every Monday. One grand prize winner will be chosen at the end of the six weeks to receive a gift certificate from Crumbs Cakery for an 8" round buttercream cake.
