VIP COACH OF THE MONTH Name: Taylor Dempsey Sport: Ringette Region: Central... Years Coaching: 11 years Coaching Experience: I began coaching in 2009 when I was an instructor for summer ringette camps. In 2014 I coached my first U14 team for the Halifax Hurricanes Ringette Association (HHRA), I have been coaching with HHRA now for 5 years at the U14-U16 level. In 2018 I began coaching the U19 Provincial Program for Ringette Nova Scotia (RNS). I have been coaching at the provincial level with the HHRA and at the National level with RNS. Proudest Coaching Moment: My proudest coaching moment was when my U14 team competed at provincials and earned their spot to represent Nova Scotia at the Eastern Canadian Ringette Championships. Fun Fact: I have recently got into rowing dorys. My sister and I train and compete together in Lunenburg during the summer. ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT Name: Olivia DeMerchant Sport: Rugby Q: You’re warming up, what’s pumping in your headphones?... A: Big fan of 90s Grunge music, like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins or Red Hot Chili Peppers. Q: You have to switch sports for a season. Which sport do you choose? A: If I were to switch sports it would probably be to hockey. However, over the Covid Summer I did become pretty fond of golf. Q: What’s your biggest goal? A: My Biggest goal is to be on the first Canadian team to win a Rugby World Cup. Q: If you could have a superpower what would it be? A: I would like muscle mimic, which is the power to mimic any physical motion I Witness. Ultimate athlete.
